VAN should not be trading Horvat (and Rathbone) for a package like that. Get futures and go for the high pick this year. If they want to target Gavrikov in the offseason as a free agent they can.

Well it's reported that the Leafs have talks, Dubas will trade for him

Werenski is out for the rest of the season, Bean, Blankenburg, Boqvist are out for a while too, with this trade that leaves Peeke as Columbus’s top defenseman. This trade hurts Columbus more then it helps them.

A 3C in Roslovic and a LD in Gavrikov that Vancouver doesn't need, Yeah sorry but that's not going to be the winning bid on Bo Horvat.

It helps the jackets tank and gives gaudreau a better long term 1C. Jackets would be dumb to turn this package down

Here’s the problem with your though if him helping us tank, the top prospects in this draft are all centers, both Bedard and Fantilli would be better 1c’s then Horvat would be, plus having Sillinger as the 2c into the future and Jenner as the 3c. The Long term outlook doesn’t have a huge impact having Horvat vs not having him.

I’m also not saying don’t make the trade or that it’s not a steal for Columbus, I’m just hating Columbus needs to figure out their defence too, and imo that will be harder then getting the 1c.

I agree with that but having too many centers is never a problem. Bedard and Bo would be great down the middle. Sillinger could be flipped for defensive help or move to the wing. There’s also no guarantee they end up with a top 5 pick.

True, but with how the season is going I’d say it’s a higher chance then not right now.
