    Why would you keep Dadanov?
Even at 5m someone will take him
16 playoff teams and usually 22 who think they are.
Its not just those who get in who are shopping but those on the fringe.

Plus there's deals like MTL being linked to SJS.
Dadvanov could serve as a piece in that deal where they'd RS and flip him.
SJS has done weirder trading Boedker's final 2 years at 4m for Hoffmans final 2 years at 5.1m
Then they flipped him to FLA who didnt need salary cleared and could have traded directly for him.
SJS gave up AHL prospect 5th and 6 rounder but got an AHL prospect , a 2nd , 4th and two 5th round picks for dumping Boedker and Hoffman
There was no need for SJS to be involved with FLA and OTT trade but they found a way to make a profit and dump a contract other than OTT wanting their 24 year old AHL RD who was playing hot right before the pandemic seen him choose to remain in Sweden.

It really comes down to how Savvy your GM is .
MB despite all his incompetence took Undrafted Diaz flipping him for Weise flipping him for Danault and Romanov who his replacement flipped for Dach.
Its often the trades we write off that end up with the big payoffs as every player above filled a void for as long as they were needed before moving on.
Only time we didnt profit was with Danault which really in the end cost MB his Job

For every decent thing MB did, there were 3-4 massive blunders. Guy was not good at his job. Danault was one of many reasons he lost his job.

    1. No the habs are not buyers. They stink. No shot at the playoffs.
    2. No one is giving a first for monahan
