Barron was a 1st so he got a 1st and a 2nd.

Also... Goals and assists have different value... But you knew that already
They got a B+ prospect and a last 3rd of the 2nd round pick.. there’s a real life tangible return that anyone can find and you’re trying to convince yourself it’s a 1st.. that’s weird. By your own logic Calgary should be able to trade Zary, Pelletier, Coronato, this years 1st for Caufield right? That’s 4 first round picks, be crazy to turn down 4 1st round picks. More than they’d get in a top tier offer sheet right?
Goals can be weighted differently sure, but if you’d like to look at the whole picture as opposed to cherry picking, Lehkonen plays significantly better D, analytics darling, was analytically great on the worst team in the league last year, Lehkonen had a 1.4 G/60 with Colorado last year, 0.9 with Montreal, Anderson had 1.0, now Anderson has a 1.4 this season and Lehkonen 0.9 but is that strictly goal production worth a million dollars more this year? all while getting out produced in every other facet of the game?
None of the above even brings the wildly bad contract into context, 4 years of an average 36 points/82 games at 5.5 million and you want a similar return to 34 points/82 games at 1.15M and an expiring RFA..Montreal also got paid for the retention in that deal increasing the return. Ignore everything else in this comment other than the last paragraph. Just answer this part above
