I honestly think it makes sense for both teams. OTT could target a better player and give up more assets, but at this point, with how much they have struggled, it might not be wise to do so. It could be better to do it in the summer when the cap is more clear after DeBrincat, Pinto and Zub extensions. Dumo is an upgrade on Holden and would be a good, cheap, short-term option.
For PIT, its really just clearing a roster spot for Smith.

Pens decline both imo. I'd rather get a pick instead of Sokolov and Lagere doesnt really need to be added. Maybe Dumo (1 mil retained) for Holden and a 3rd

I would rather do that too. Not too sure OTT wants to move 3rd rounders.

Never got to the MIN trade lol. Personally dont think it's worth it to get Steel. I like Duclair and hes out for a while so maybe Florida could be interested in getting pieces for him? Dumo could also prob be a fit there as well. Maybe Kapanen, Dumo, 2nd, Lagere for Duclair, Hornqvist (1 mil retained)?

My goal with the MIN trade is not to get Steel. It is to clear Kapanen and his wages. I definitely think Kap is better than Steel, but he has fallen out with Sullivan and it is hard to see him coming back in. This deal allows us to shed about $2M in salary and will allow us to accrue cap until the deadline, where that number will be much higher and we can maybe look at adding someone expensive.
For Florida, they are already super tight on the cap. Currently, they cannot carry any extras. Once Duclair is back, they will need to shed $3M just to activate him. Hornqvist is the most likely guy to get dealt so they can get Duclair back in. I dont really see them making that trade because they will need to dump a few contracts and Hornqvist is the main one.

I see what you mean but I dont think Steel would be the best guy to get. Another idea I have is to shed Kapanens contract like you did here and do a Hornqvist, Dumoulin swap
