Some realistic Horvat base offers

Created by: Mediumyeet

Description
Trying to put together some realistic base offers for horvat. The goal isn't to be exact but to be in the right ballpark where you could negotiate some more details. Ie: additional mid round picks on either side, cap dumps, retention, lower level prospects.

And yes some of these teams don't really have a need for Horvat. I'm also not worried about retention as that's something that could be negotiated further if necessary.

Detroit is not trading 1sts. It's a non-starter. Yzerman has been very clear about that.

Canes only do that if an extension is a guaranteed part of the package. If it’s not then there is no deal to be had.

Detroit has the pieces for Horvat, Even without including a 1st round pick. Which clearly Yzerman will never do right now.

I'd say that's a fair offer. The '24 pick is a late one (we're making the playoffs next year, 100%) and Rasmussen isn't nearly as good as some think he is. I just don't know if Horvat is the right player to go after since we'd be tying up a lot of cap in the top-3 centres and we have Kasper on the way. Also it might be easier to just sign him as an UFA.

Berggren, Wallinder even though he's a LHS he's played his entire career at RD possibly Veleno maybe Rasmussen. We can definitely beat any team out there for his services. Yzerman know's more about then i do.

It's more likely to be a player Holland drafted and not Yzerman. Rasmussen, Veleno or Berggren. I know Red Wings fans don't want to give anything good up. But you're going to have to give up something good to get Horvat.

I just don't think Colorado has the pieces unless they are willing to move multiple 1sts or Newhook. I could see interest from Seattle but that would be a bold move by management to move horvat just across the border.

Some of these teams probably aren't interested but there's been enough smoke around all of them that I figured I'd post.

Wallinder shouldn't be in that discussion, right now he's looking better than Edvinsson.

I never said it wasn't fair, just that Yzerman isn't trading firsts, so it kinda makes value irrelevant. Yzerman doesn't really make bold statements unless he means them. He was pretty firm that he wouldn't be trading 1st round picks in the next couple years and drafting and developing was the model.

I also don't love the idea of tying up that much cap with Raymond and Seider a couple years away from extensions and the pending payday for Larkin and Bertuzzi. Now, if we move Bertuzzi, that changes things, but I still think he's going to be extended.

Even then, roll the dice on Horvat going to FA and sign him then for the price of a contract without giving up any assets.

We're currently among the bottom 3 in the standings and we're at risk of tanking again.

Horvat would only be a rental and we have more than enough centre depth for next season with Norris/Stutzle/Pinto.

There are five things that the Ottawa Senators need more than anything right now:

                      1. A new owner

                      2. A brand new arena that is downtown and not on the outskirts

                      3. A new head coach

                      4. A Top 4 RD with term

                      5. A trade for Zaitsev

This trade for Horvat gives us none of those things.

                      Ottawa is not interested.

                      Ryan Reynolds?

                      His pockets aren't deep enough.
