Lets Make this team slightly better but way worse off in the future, Lets Grotesquely overpay for an aging Defenceman who is having a resurgence. Send off our 1st that we just picked and the next 2 first round picks. Lets also send out the young player who we acquired with the 1st round pick we recently made and trade away the first bunch of picks from the upcoming draft loaded with talent. We wont make it past the 1st round due to our blueline not holding together after Erik Karlsson wants to take over the PP again and then realizing that he isnt it when there is another defenceman.

I mean isn't that what he did in the OEL trade lol?

You're probably giving him too much credit with the amount that he gets retained, Karlsson is a 9m dman at the moment. Maybe it should just be 15% retention and then you add Poolman too.

No team in win now mode is trading one of their shut down D for futures.

I don’t care if you don’t like him. It’s a dumb trade under the circumstances.

Offseason, still doubt they do it.

They’d use Carlo to get some long term help at center if anything.

The more I think of it, for this to be more like a real Benning trade, this trade needs to be at the draft. Say Vancouver's 1st is 7th-10th OV.

Karlsson at 9.085m (21%) + Meier (proceeds to sign him for 9mx8) for Boeser+Pearson+Myers+2023 1st + 2024 2nd + 2025 7th
