Vancouver probably waits to see if they can get more, but perhaps if they can't they might take this, I would imagine they can at least get a 2nd though.

Right now, yes. Will they ever? Probably not.

What reason is there for them do this?

Kerfoot and Jarnkrok are his most hated players on the Leafs based on the "softness" scale.

There isn't but if they decide to trade him they are going to look for:

1) the best futures package with wanted player (unlikely that it's even an option)
2) the best futures package (most likely if he's traded)
3) the best futures package with unwanted roster player.

Kuzmenko has a super low cap hit and is probably going to be wanted, but it doesn’t mean that the teams that do want him don't want/need to send a contract back.

As for Kerfoot, Vancouver don't need or want him now but that doesn't mean that will be true later.

I fully expect Kuzmenko to be signed by Vancouver.
