Sorry, neither of those players is of interest to us, especially if the cost is Sean Durzi. Our primary need is a top-4 LhD who can play there NOW, not a left-handed forward (of whom we have an excess) who is a rental twice as expensive as Durzi or a dubious defense prospect.

Just wondering, would you do Rathbone for Grans or Spence

I think that the only conceivable idea we would be interested in is some form of permutation of Durzi for Sandin, if in fact our scouting staff and front office thought that Sandin would be the right fit for us.

Sandin won't be happening, how about picks that you can then flip for your LHD?

2nd and a 3rd? Again, not entirely sure of his value.

Yes, probably Spence more than Grans. Although Durzi and Spence aren't exactly equivalent, they are similar, whereas Grans is primarily seen as a defensive blueliner. (Our dream is that Clarke eventually replaces Doughty and Grans eventually replaces Roy.)

We already have enough picks, and a surplus of prospects, we can use for a LhD. We don't need to dispose of Durzi to do that.

Ok, this is tough one for me.

But Niemela for Durzi, one for one.

Durzi is an established NHLer, but Niemela will be a stud in a couple years time, and has a higher ceiling.

This is Dubas' last shot, so why not? 😛

The Kings are trying to make the playoffs this year, don't think they would trade Durzi for someone that doesn't help them immediately. I also don't think you can count on Niemela being a stud, he only has 5 points in his D+3 year in the Liiga.

Because Niemela has never played a professional hockey game in North America. And for those of you Toronto fans who think that he's the next coming of Niklas Lidstrom, I have two words for you: Mikko Lehtonen.

No, thanks. Sandin and a first for Clarke is (much) too little, and Sandin and a first for Durzi is too much.

I didn't say he's going to be Lidstrom, but in a couple years when your core is competing for more than just playoff spots, he'll be a difference maker.
