Comtois = Sandin
Klingberg with 50% retention = your 2023 first and Niemela
Vatrano = not on the market (he could have signed with you, remember?)

Hello, old friend.

I'm concerned that Johnson can become a free agent a couple of months after he finishes his university career. And I'm not sure that if he doesn't sign, the compensatory second-round draft pick goes with him.

I'd say

Comtois = not available for anything less than a stupid overpayment
Vatrano = not avaliable unless he specifically asks out
Klingberg 50% retained= 2023 1st round pick, a warm body capable of playing D on the right, moderate sweetener depending on cap coming back

Comtois not available imo

Dude will be a perfect fit with Zegras and Terry

Yessir! I’d say a 23 1st roster player and prospect will be the Klingberg return

Hello friend.

I specifically asked this question. If we trade Johnson to Anaheim, for example, and he doesn't want to sign, Ducks gets a compensatory second-round pick.

But actually Ryan Johnson is from California, he played in Anaheim Junior. His father works in Anaheim. He has the potential to be a top 4 defesemen.

Any offer on Artem Zub that involves a 1st round pick or a prospect that was recently drafted as a 1st round pick will be taken seriously.

Although, we would rather sign him long term.

I agree that Comtois is a perfect fit for Zegras and Terry. He's strong driving the slot, a heavy F1 forechecker and enough of a scoring threat to be a great decoy. But I think he's really a middle-six forward playing higher (I feel his skill level tops out as a 2nd line LW).

However, from how the team (and mostly Eakins) has treated him through healthy scratches and moving him down the lineup, I don't think Comtois is unavailable if the right trade comes up.

If I was GM, I'd say that if the rights to Knies were ever on the table, a good trade could be made for both teams.

Think Klingberg (50% retained), Comtois, and Eriksson-Ek (RFA after this season) for the rights to Knies, 2023 1st and maybe one or two more pieces to balance things and the cap (adding Sandin or Niemela seems like a big ask).

Timmins is hurt, Arizona doesn’t sell low and it doesn’t solve Toronto’s issues

Maccelli isn’t available

Fischer has more value to the yotes locker room than a 3rd from anyone, so likely makes him unavailable just due to no one over paying

Chychrun - Sandin, 23 1st, Robertson. The injury situation coupled with dubas’s job status leads to a desperate overpay

Boyd has great chemistry with Keller and schmaltz, that likely isn’t replicable elsewhere because no one puts him in their top 6, Toronto doesn’t go for him

Noah Cates: I'm not even joking when I say a 2023 1st. The Flyers are completely and totally bereft of Center talent and Cates is really proving that he could be a well above average defensive Center long term (think in the mold of like Nick Paul).
