Seravelli reporting Duclair is close and Florida must make a trade

Description
"Because the Florida Panthers have been flying incredibly close to the sun with the salary cap this season. They’re dressing the league minimum, they’re carrying the league minimum of players. You saw last week with Aaron Ekblad when he was sick, they didn’t get a replacement, they played one player short. And so, they don’t have anyone to send down and that means if they’d like to activate Duclair, who I’m told is closing in on a return, he’s already skating, looking like sometime around Christmas at the earliest, he’s got a $3 million cap hit, and in order to activate him, they have no space. They absolutely must make a trade.

One option, may be one of the easiest options, would be to take Duclair and unload him somewhere for free, have someone take him off your hands, you might even have to pay given the scenario that the Florida Panthers are in, to have someone bail you out in order to make that happen."

The Panthers are playing Marc Staal in their Top 4, they could absolutely use a LD. Jets have a logjam and given that Florida has zero leverage, the Jets can avoid having to give up a more valuable asset.

Florida's leverage is that they could move the player elsewhere. 30 other teams will be sniffing around. Most can give up better than Logan Stanley and have a need for someone like Duclair.

We’d have to offer a lot more. Other teams would be willing to give more than Logan Stanley.

Well, they can try but if Hornqvist could have been traded it would have happened in the off season. His M NTC means he block any team with cap.

Not with the M-NTC they won’t. The only teams with cap will likely end up on his no trade list. But I’d pay more than this for duclair. Heinola could be a trade piece.

He only has a 8 team no trade list, I've seen people on here trading him to Arizona like that would ever happen. But i'm sure he'd be willing to waive to a few teams who could afford him.

Yeah, I get the logic behind it, but Duclair is a legit second line guy on almost every team in the league. If all you're offering is future 7th D Logan Stanley, it gets beat. Hell, if I was in charge if the Islanders I'd say "pick one: Sebastian Aho/Robin Salo, okay good, here's a 3rd, and hey, any of those warm bodies in Bridgeport making $750k is yours if you want em" and look at that, I've beaten this offer.

I think if Florida has to make the move, anyone with a league minimum cap hit will be valuable - it gives them more flexibility in playing the emergency call up game if someone's hurt(but not LTIR hurt) and they need a fresh body.

A lot can happen between now and the end of December which is said to be the earliest Duclair will be ready, Florida has time and its debatable if the Jets have time to wait to acquire some forward help.

It's a possibility indeed (8 team no trade list)

Hot take Florida won’t trade duclair or hornqvist. When duclair comes back they will finally be moving on from bobrovsky.

Yeah good luck with that, Bobrovsky holds all the cards. And i seriously doubt he's leaving South Florida anytime soon.

That's funny Bob looks at ZITO and laughs when asked to waive his FULL NMC

Lol there’s a better chance ekblad is moved over Bob. That full NMC is going to screw them over.
