I think this is the most logical and realistic Dadanov trade I've seen yet by a habs fan.

Unfortunately I still think the Monahan assessment is ripe. While he's been a nice piece, I don't believe he's back to first round value. Certainly not a fit on the leafs either.

This would be a good TDL
I don’t understand why you aren’t retaining 1.75M on Edmundson tho

Unless Dadonov gets his act together fast the Devils would rather just have Johnsson

How come Wi-Fi and Kovacevic weren't in the lineup tonight?!

They're rotating Wi-Fi, Harris, Wideman and Kovacevic. Last game Wideman and Harris were the scratches.

Why would Jersey want to make any changes? Monahan isn't worth a fist to the Leafs, and the Leafs don't need a centre.

I wonder if Yzerman is scouting Monahan? Big C with skill. I'm game. Habs would have to retain.

Sean Walker and our 2024 second for Edmundson with retention is a good idea.

Jarnkrok is your 3rd centre but he also fits well as a RW. Beyond that though they really don’t have any good options for a 3rd centre.

I think that would be the low end of a return for Edmundson as he's the type of big, Cup Winning, dual position, experienced, low cost D that Gms salivate over.

I think the Habs should do it! Hughes work tho dictates he will get a lot more after last TDL as Brett Kulak, a 3rd pairing D, that was in and out of the lineup, even he, got a 2nd rounder that somehow became Lane Hutson!

Allen has been terrible the last few games. I dont think this team is bottom 5. It was a miracle they somehow beat the Flyers when Jake was letting in muffins all night including a faceoff goal. This is an example of how important decent goaltending means in this league! Buffalo certainly isnt good like a lot of Sabres fans were (laughingly) claiming to start the year! The funniest ones were Sabres fans claiming that they would be 20 points better than the Habs despite all the injuries. Claiming tonight is an example of anything when they got zero goaltending is more of the same nonsense.

All I pray to the hockey gods for is some combination of Monahan/Hoffman/Armia/Dadanov/Drouin/Edmundson/Dvorak/Evans net us in the next 18 months some combination of oneTop 4 young RHD prospect, 1A NHL rookie G (Sorry but Primeau isn't the future), and 2 lottery picks (FLA hopefully bomb too lol).

I don't think that is too much to ask for is it ? HAHA

I dont think you are getting much for wingers. There are too many examples in the past few years that wings are getting pennies on the dollar.
Monahan though with his resume and ability to win faceoffs, play the PP will fetch something decent. Not sure it's a 1st as you have guys like Oreilly and Horvat available, maybe. The market usually dictates the return, Chiarot being on the higher end of returns when so many teams were in on him. Edmundson probably fetches the best return. He simply checks every box and you have a half dozen teams that assuredly will outbid each other. That is the key, the demand from teams and the low supply of Joel Edmundsons.

I guarantee you Edmundson fetches a better return than Gostibehere/Klingberg for example despite their puck moving ability, both are horrendous in their own end. Their reps around the league couldnt be in more stark contrast. Gms simply think of GhostBear as soft and a loser whereas Joel is the polar opposite.

Holmberg is our 3C, with Kampf playing 4C. Kampf played the 3C role most of last year and did fine. No need to seriously overpay for Monahan.

There’s no way you’re going through a whole season with Kampf and Holmberg. Holmberg is an AHL player. Dubas will look for another forward because it’s evident you can’t have Malgin and Holmberg every night come March and April.

It's evident? We've never had Malgin and Holmberg in March and April so I'm not sure how you can come up with a claim like that.

I'm not sure if you're trying to convince me or yourself that Monahan is worth a 1st, but it certainly isn't working on me.

At 50% retained he’s worth a 2nd. With Engvall it’s a late first.

Engvall doesn't need to be included to make the cap work at 50% retention. You won't be getting a 2nd for him. Good luck!

In this flat cap era a team will overpay at the deadline to make the cap work. Look at Colorado without Kadri, still very good but not the same team. A centre is far too important to a contender.

Sorry you haven't been watching any Leafs games for the past year or so. Kampf is has been excellent in his role. No PP time, 8 points and plus player. You could certainly argue he has been at least as good Monahan. As a Hab fan, would you give up a first for Kampf?

Of course not, Kampf is a cap dump (sarcasm).

Not that a agree with my fellow Leaf fans , or non Leaf fans on all things, , but at times it seems some CF fans think the only good players the Leaf have are Matthews, Marner and Reilly. All the rest, average to below average NHLers.
