Beyond the obvious skewed values, Toronto is sitting at 50/50 contracts right now. They can't take on 3 NHL contracts.

Lol all are easy no thank yous. I would ask once again what Habs think Edmundson is once again, but then I saw the Jarvis trade, and that is dreadful. He's far better than Monahan right now. Also I take it back, if a team has cap they should definitely do the Dadonov trade.

-Just because the Leafs can afford it doesn't mean they need to do it. Pezzetta and Beaudin are useless to them since they already have 50 contracts and wouldn't have the room to add both of them. I think swapping 2024 2nds doesn't make a ton of sense at this point, either. So the bones of the trade would be Niemela & a 3rd for Edmundson at full cap hit - and I think that Toronto wouldn't to pay that. Personally, if I'm the Leafs, I'd look at Eddy's injury struggles the past 2 seasons (back injuries famously never recur, right?) and find it hard to feel like I'm looking at Jake Muzzin 2.0. Pass.

-I'm assuming by calling Dadonov "offensive depth" you mean depth in terms of how low Dadonov's production has been, right? Dude has 2 points in 15 GP. He has the same amount of assists as your goalie. He's got zero value right now, even with retention.

-Calgary passes - before you even get to the value (very bad for them) you have to realize that the big raises that Jonathan Huberdeau & Mackenzie Weegar got in their extensions were partially fueled by the idea that Lucic's deal is expiring this year. They literally wouldn't have the cap space to carry Josh Anderson next year without dumping at least $3.5M in cap space - it just cost them a 1st rounder this year to get under the cap, I can't imagine they want to put themselves through that for a second summer in a row.

-Awful deal for Carolina. Monahan fully retained can *maybe* get back a pick/prospect combo if he maintains a 45-50 point pace (remember: he did that last year through 35 games, too, before putting up 4 points in his last 28 GP.). What he's not going to get back is a 20 year old forward scoring at basically the same rate to this point in his career (47 pts in 87 GP) PLUS another recent 1st rounder, even if you throw in a couple B-tier prospects.

Come back to us when you've had your coffee.
