I say a 3rd that’s what i’ve seen as fair when looked at comparables & a few lightning fans i’ve seen, You aren't getting Robby that’s for Damn Sure

Why would Tampa give up on cost efficient Foote? And why would they help the Leafs if he NHL Dman?

Foote can play, is a RD, which take longer to develop, Robertson is losing value with every healthy scratch. If you want Foote, as the buyer, you have to offer value. You asked the question of what it would take, it will take something TB actually wants.

Foote is 6'3, and a RD and has played solid hockey, 3rd pair and is a + player in 101 games. Robertson looked poor/not ready in 21-22 and is a healthy scratch most nights on an offensive minded club in 22-23. I'm not sure robertson = foote

Because so many CF fans, really don't know about construction of lineups and the "value" of a RFA. Just like the author of this post, thinking Tampa is trading an 850,000 NHL Dman to the Leafs.

Honestly he hasn’t been anything other than a physical RHD. Average IQ. You don’t notice him during games which isn’t a bad thing. He’s solid down low at the goal line defensively but you don’t really see him making plays anywhere else. I’d assume a 3rd or 4th could get it done with him under contract. 5th for the RFA rights in the offseason.

Another reason is, due to the emergence of Perbix, somebody will have to be sent down to Syracuse and it won’t be Bogosian. Perbix has been a great all around Top 4 guy while he’s been in so we are trying to see what we could get for Foote. He’d be claimed if put on waivers.

1000% He’d get claimed, I can already hear Ottawa & Vancouver Salivating at the thought of it

Exactly. Fleury can play both sides and is better than Foote so Foote is the odd man out. Sucks because when he first came up he looked like he had potential but he just stopped developing and just rounded out his current game instead. Whoever gets him could get a gem but it more than likely won’t be us.

Also i doubt it will be Toronto, They won’t trade him
in division & more specifically someone they might face in the playoffs again this year

Yeah I’d assume we’d rather get a lower pick and send him out west than anything. We could for sure see Toronto in the playoffs this year and in years ahead so.

I know Foote is someone Dubas would like tho, has good potential & is only 23, adds the size + physicality for cheap. I could see the Leafs going to whoever Tampa trades him to & giving up a slightly higher pick to get him

If TB sent anybody down it'll be the more expensive and poorer Myers, whose game has disappeared, but theyll probably keep perbix and foote, when their guys come off LTIR.

And if need be as said earlier, they'll trade one of perbix or foote out of division

After he leaves the division it’s all on paying slightly more for the same asset after they underpay for Foote

This has been my thought - Anthony Cirelli is gonna come back at some point this year with his $4.8M cap hit. Assuming nobody else is hurt, you assume they probably send down Cole Koepke(waivers eligible) to give Cirelli the roster spot, but then they still need to clear about $1.1M in cap - Foote is only worth $850K, so they still need to get creative if he's the option. Way more likely that they send Myers down - he's only playing 11:33 per night and I would be shocked if anyone jumped at his $2.55M cap hit.

Agree, it doesn;t help that Myers's game is probably the worst of the 8 dmen who've gotten time in TB. Foote, at 23, as a 6'3 right defender has some solid value (Sounds alot like Myers, who TOR fans drolled over before), and is definitely a keeper or holds value in trade. Really keeping foote and perbix as your 6th or 7th or even 8th is solid depth, and they wont replace either for a better defender at that small cap hit.

9 defensemen, of the bottom 4 only Myers has a substantial cap hit and Fleury probably goes unclaimed: Hedman, Sergachev, Cole, and Cernak are definites, while Myers, Bogosian, Perbix, Fleury, Foote fight for the remaining 3-4 slots. But TB knows way too much about having depth, and they dont have anyone/cant get anyone better than perbix, fleury, and foote at those cap hits

Vancouver or Ottawa would a RHD is all they need to get salivating they’d probably take Holl if he got sent down

that just reinforces my point - as it stands right now, Tampa has the following RHD: Cernak, Perbix, Bogosian, Myers, Foote. Perbix is the only waivers-exempt name but, as TBL fans have pointed out, has pretty much earned a regular spot. Cernak & Bogosian aren't going anywhere. That leaves Myers and Foote.

If you're Tampa & you're convinced that you're gonna lose one of those dudes if you waive them, who are you bailing on? $2.55M Myers, who's been pretty well sheltered in his 11:33 each night, or Cal Foote, who makes $850K, can at least play 15+ minutes a night, and even chips in on PK2?

Myers has been better than Foote. Analytics say he’s our best defensmen. Now that’s not true at all but eye test also shows he’s earned at least the 7th D spot.
