This has been my thought - Anthony Cirelli is gonna come back at some point this year with his $4.8M cap hit. Assuming nobody else is hurt, you assume they probably send down Cole Koepke(waivers eligible) to give Cirelli the roster spot, but then they still need to clear about $1.1M in cap - Foote is only worth $850K, so they still need to get creative if he's the option. Way more likely that they send Myers down - he's only playing 11:33 per night and I would be shocked if anyone jumped at his $2.55M cap hit.
Agree, it doesn;t help that Myers's game is probably the worst of the 8 dmen who've gotten time in TB. Foote, at 23, as a 6'3 right defender has some solid value (Sounds alot like Myers, who TOR fans drolled over before), and is definitely a keeper or holds value in trade. Really keeping foote and perbix as your 6th or 7th or even 8th is solid depth, and they wont replace either for a better defender at that small cap hit.
9 defensemen, of the bottom 4 only Myers has a substantial cap hit and Fleury probably goes unclaimed: Hedman, Sergachev, Cole, and Cernak are definites, while Myers, Bogosian, Perbix, Fleury, Foote fight for the remaining 3-4 slots. But TB knows way too much about having depth, and they dont have anyone/cant get anyone better than perbix, fleury, and foote at those cap hits
