Anaheim deal is fair, I'd say. Grant gets another chance to chase a ring, Anaheim gets a high-floor/low-ceiling type prospect.

Feel like you're giving up too much here. I like Soucy, sure, but he feels like a 2nd-and-a-prospect type value guy at best. Geekie has had a ton of shot luck to get his 4 goals in 15 GP, and I'd assume that at best he's getting a 3rd rounder in a trade. I think Seattle would jump on this trade and Toronto would be giving up a 1st for minor upgrades at best. Pass for the Leafs.

That’s all fair, and I don’t disagree the SEA trade is an overpay. Just think that’s probably what it will take to get reinforcements right now.

Honestly as Anaheim I'd just rather get a 4th round pick. But every Leafs deal has to be contract in/out neutral so there's that.

On that same token the Seattle deal doesn't work as is because of the extra contract going to the Leafs.
