That's a definite no from Winnipeg. Kerfoot isn't worth a top 4 defenseman especially as a rental that has done nothing this year.

But the Leafs shouldn't do the deal either. Leafs have enough LHD, and don't want Dillon's 3.9m cap next season.

True, but that trade wasn't posted. You can be sure DeMelo would cost more than Kerfoot. And really why should the Jets make any moves, they are doing quite well.

That's cool. If the Kerfoot deal was going to happen, it would have in the off season. Right now the Jets have no reason to move key parts of a lineup that is playing well.

Also Kerfoot has M NTC. Excellent chance that Winnipeg and poor teams with cap are on his no trade list. I was hoping that Kerfoot was moved in the off season for the cap reasons, but just think was impossible for a team to take his that was on his trade list

that 10-team NTC killed his value, IMO. Kerfoot's probably *slightly* overpaid on most teams in the league (I don't think he's putting up 50+ points skating with Brock Nelson & Anthony Beauvillier, for example) but the big hook was his $750K in real money. The problem is, the only teams that are gonna get excited about a $3.5M cap hit with a $750K price tag are gonna be the teams like Arizona/Buffalo/Anaheim/Chicago - teams that are rebuilding and were hanging around the cap floor all summer, and that you can almost guarantee are on Kerf's NTC. So you look at the other 21 teams, realize that probably 12-15 of them just don't have the room to absorb his cap hit, and *poof* there goes his trade market.

I agree that Winnipeg is most likely on his "no list". The only way I could see Kerfoot being ok to go to Winnipeg is in March if both the Jets are fighting for 1st in the division and the Leafs are in a tailspin. Both conditions are unlikely to be met.

The Jets need Dillon, this defense is too small as it is.
