Vladar was simply outstanding tonight for us, otherwise it would have been 5-1 Penguins

Still not liking the lines, especially Dube-Kadri-Mangiapane; they’re on the ice for too many Even Strength Goals

Can’t wait to get back home to Waive Rooney, Rest Looch and Lewis and Call Up the guys on the Taxi Squad.

I am concerned about Tanev and recommend reducing his playing time to prevent injury. He’s taking quite a beating night in & night out.

And What do we do with Connor Mackey at this point!?

I doubt they waive Rooney. The Flames really haven't waived players making north of 1m.

Mackey was extremely overhyped. He's probably a 7th D at best right now. He's older than Hanifin/Andersson/Kylington. Approaching "is what he is territory".

Tonight wasn't the Flames best. Valuable point in the bank though. They're not all Picasso's. 2-1-1 on the trip. Chance to make it a real good trip Fri and Sat

The Penguins were very good at pushing our D back and doing a drop pass to the trailingFforward or D-Man (how Ruuta’s scored his goal tonight.

The Flames should do more of that too. I saw it a lot last season and feel they’re just taking way too easy of shots from the outside perimeter. They need to get closer in, create a screen and leave space for the shooter. Mangiapane can’t seem to get a shot off at all right now. They’re all being stick or body blocked right off of his stick.

Lots of excellent zone time, lots of quality chances, terrible line changes and give aways, Lucics line got us hemmed in our own zone again, had lot's of difficulty escaping our own zone at times.

Zadorov who I've been overly critical of, was very good and has been a lot better than I give him credit for. He and Weegar were very good.

Dan definitely kept us in it, they had lots of dangerous looks.

We need to ice the best team and see what some of our young guys have to offer before making a Trade imo. Rooney needs to be Traded or Waived to make space for them to do so.

Connor Mackey potentially as well. I feel like they’re worried he will get picked up off waivers so just have him stick on the roster but he needs playing time. I don’t buy in to too much of that age stuff when it comes to Defensemen. They usually take longer to develop and Mackey went the college route, so he didn’t turn professional until a couple years ago.

I don’t believe Tanev is 100% Healthy, so I just want to see him have better support and less ice time, so he doesn’t really injure himself. Could go 13 Forwards + 7 D-Men and have Mackey in the game too, but I’d really like to see Stone come back or what Meloche has to offer

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy we’re getting okay results, but there’s always room for improvement and I’d eventually like to become dominant as a Team

With Kevin Rooney, it might not be Hockey Ops decision, it might be an ownership thing. When the Flames had Brandon Bollig there was a similar conversation. Flames ownership didn't want to pay him north of 1m to play AHL hockey. They valued him which is why they signed him on the first day of free agency.

The Flames will be fine. There are no easy games in the NHL, but the Flames still haven't seen any of the bottom 8-10 teams in the league. They've played a lot of really good hockey teams.

Pay him to play in the AHL or pay him to sit in the Press Box. Find a Trade Partner. He isn’t useful and is blocking other guys from getting a shot

I want them to absolutely dominate the possession time and become a scary good team like Tampa Bay & Colorado were last season. Still got work to do to get there for sure

I swear he got called up in the 2020-21 season and was playing good hockey, but he was there cuz of a injury I feel like if we kept him in instead of guys like nestrov he could have been a solid bottom 4 dman idk what happened to him now can’t find his game anymore

The Flames had several games postponed during that 2020 season. It resulted in the Flames playing the Canucks four times to end the season, with nothing to play for. Mackey did look good in those games, but there was nothing to play for and both teams did look checked out. Hard to blame them as the first round of the playoffs was underway and the Flames and Canucks were still playing regular season hockey.
