Red Wings decline. Yzerman isn't trading 1sts and Walman looks good at 3LD since returning from his injury. There's no need for Edmundson here.

They're obviously interested in him and it's hard to know what's the price, habs can hold on to him and maybe get a better return as a rental (like chiarot) or trade him now because we're desperate to create room for youngsters, maybe habs will take a 2nd

Chris yzerman wasn't scouting the habs and traveling from montreal to Columbus just to watch them, calm down

Doesn't mean the wings are specifically targetting someone they don't need. Scouts are at games all the time and very rarely does anything materialize as a result.

All the more they aren't VASTLY overpaying to get something they don't want or need.

I saw that yesterday and I should've been more clear. Show your proof that he was there scouting Edmundson?

This is very true. He could be scouting anyone on the team. Since Detroit and Montreal are in the same division he could be scouting the team for the next time they play. He is from Canada so could even be visiting Montreal and wanted to catch a game.

Yeah we laughed at you, because Edmundson isn't the target. Once again we're set at LD perhaps Chris Yzerman is looking at someone else because it sure as hell isn't Joel Edmundson.

Told you Maatta is trash and Edmundson would be a huge upgrade over him. Maatta is so bad Chicago dumped him with retained salary in 2020 for an AHLer.

As soon as LA hit the playoffs last year, they sent him on 3rd pairing and then let him walk as a UFA even if they need LHD. He's a terrible D.

If not Edmundson, who was he looking at then? Hoffman? Dvorak? Monahan?

Could be any number of the Habs players. Teams scout other teams all the time. I believe when you posted the list stating Chris Yzerman was there that there was like over a dozen other scouts? There might end up being an Edmundson deal, we will never know until or if it happens. All we do know is that Steve Yzerman said he isn't going to trade picks this year and wants to acquire more picks for this draft.

Many of those names were the usual names, scouts from other teams based in MTL or close.

Chris Yzerman from Detroit and Pete Chiarelli from St-Louis were unusual. And the Vegas guy too.

Maataa is an offensive D and Edmundson is a defensive D. Why would you compare both guys points production only?

10 time out of 10, Edmundson would win a fight, win a puck battle and kill Maatta in the corner. He would win anything physical over Maataa.

Also, when did i say i know more than Yzerman?

I don't think C Yzerman scouting a team in the division is unusual per se. MTL is probably not a playoff team but if Detroit wants to make the playoffs in a favorable position, they probably want to face Toronto which means being the 3rd/2nd seed. I have no clue if they are playing each other any time soon though.

He may very well be scouting players including Edmundson, playoff teams don't hate having veterans on their 3rd pairing. Detroit fans will probably say that Yzerman is ruining it if he does acquire him.

I will say though not to expect Yzerman to overpay for him or that any team would give me the Chiarot deal for Edmundson because he's not a rental. GMs are willing to overpay for rentals or player with term on budget contracts at the deadline, not players who they can't walk away from easily if they don't like the fit.

Maybe he was scouting Hoffman too, 😂. I wouldn't be surprised if Yzerman traded some pending ufas and acquired some guys with two years of term.

Chris could have been scouting Caulfield to see if he's worth giving an offer sheet. Chances are he's scouting a number of players but doesn't mean they are interested in any right now.

No, we laughed when you posted some crazy trade where Wings give up a 1st for Edmunson. We laughed at that.

3 things.

1. Where was Chris Yzerman the night before? Could he just be making his way home for the American holiday and Montreal was on the way? Scouts also scout other teams all the time, and just becuase two new teams being in the house could or could not be a sign of a pending trade.

2. Too assume that Yzerman is there to account the one player that you want to trade and think you ate going to get "A haul for" is a stretch. Heck, it is pure fantasy. He could be there scouting several players. A posting one person's thoughts and assuming them to be fact is not only comical it is sad. Becuase you want to trade Edmundson and thinking you will get the same return is even worse. Charoit was having a career year and Ed is nowhere close.

3rd Stevie has stated on numerous occassion this year that HE IS NOT TRADING 2023 PICKS AND WANTS TO ADD MORE. I beleive that coming from the horses mouth rather than some Hack trying to drive up clicks for his paper or site.

In closing, I find it laughable over the last 3 to 4 years Hab fans think that Wings are going to trade Mantha for Domi, or Mantha for crap picks and players not in the league, 1st for Petry, or Zadina and a 1st for Petry. All thses were came for some pundit or hack and all were not even close. But you continue to believe them becuase you are desperate to rebuild and be a power. That is a process and after MB mismanagement it will take time and do not try to do it on the backs of the Wings.

He was in montreal at the game Tuesday and then travel to Columbus for the 2nd half of the habs back to back, that's why you'd have to assume he's scouting someone because the next time habs play the wings is in 63 days

Yeah, the problem with your theory is that the Wings DO play Buffalo and Columbus in the next 11 days so...

The Habs, Sabres, and Blue Jackets are all out of playoff contention and will probably be sellers at the deadline. As I said in the other thread, it makes an absolute ton of sense for scouts to target games where the two teams play together so they can kill two birds with one stone. It's just as likely they're scouting Vinnie Hinostroza or Gustav Nyquist. Or, hell, if they're looking for a rental LHD Vlad Gavrikov is probably going to cost much less than what y'all are asking for in an Edmundson package.
