No it doesn't. It works for Boston, they are as tight against the cap as TO is and he's a 3 million dollar contract they have in the AHL. This helps Boston and makes life more difficult for TO capwise once Rielly is healthy. Rielly isn't needed in TO.

Because that’s irrelevant, you could not afford to claim him and circumstances have changed.

That being said you could keep the pick and Boston still does it.

Reilly is similar to Jensen in Washington their underlying numbers are both very good and for whatever reason, they have fallen out of favour with the coaching staff. Jensen weathered the storm and is now a really solid piece for Washington. 3 million is a little steep yes but I think for what he can bring it's a smart risk all things considered. Maybe a three-team trade where Kerfoot is shipped out as well could make more sense.

Ya, because we need the cap space. In a vacuum he’s worth a 3rd.

They definitely can afford him once Rielly returns Muzzin is out for the year and potentially for his career.

Reilly-Brodie

Giordano - Liljegren

Rielly-Sandin/Holl

This still leaves room for addition within the forward group as well. We'd still have our 1st this year to go out and grab an impact forward, which is more of a need anyways.

Lol, again terrible logic. He got waived because they were over the cap and had to. Has nothing to do with his value.

You'd have to send down Mete, Timmins and Benn but yeah this fits under the cap. The leafs are used to running with a 21 man roster I don't see the big deal here

so lose 2 dmens for 1? including one that rielly has chemistry with and another that dubas said he has high hopes for. seems very possible, benn and timmins wont clear

Unlike Lawrence Ollivier you've actually seen Reilly play.

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3776234

With this lineup, you send Mete, Hollowell, Holmberg, Timmins and Kallgren down and the roster becomes cap compliant.

Mete, Hollowell, Holmberg and Kallgren should all clear with no problem.

Rielly is out for 4-6 weeks, that should be enough time for Timmins to establish himself if not I don't mind booting him to the minors.

And what happens when Mo and Brodie are healthy? Is Rielly going to knock out Gio? Or Sandin? I don't see it happening, so it's not worth our time.
