This is an easy “NO” from the Sabres

You’re giving us nothing of value for a guy who is a top6 goal scorer

We’d be open to trading Olofsson,
but for the right price- not for junk

Harkins was waived and wouldn't being anything to give Buffalo a reason to promote him.
Torgersson isn't better than any prospect Buffalo already has.
So I don't see a reason why Buffalo does this.
Swap on of those guys with DeMelo and then Buffalo picks up the phone

Olofsson is pretty low on my list of trade targets. Rather not have another empty calorie scorer.

What does empty calorie scorer even mean? lol

I see 7 of Olofsson's 10 goals are at even strength which is pretty decent, seems a bit streaky but most goal scorers are.

Anyone who watches the Jets can easily see they lack scoring, they really need more goal scorers whether they're scoring "empty calorie" goals or not.

Olofsson has a good shot, which is nice. But he doesn't actually create any offensive chances and he's a terrible defensive player. There are so many better and cheaper options to improve the team.

Like who?

Edit: I don't think the Jets have enough shooters, they really need some guys who can just flat out hammer the puck.

So Olofsson has term left at 4.7m, and Buffalo obv would have a pretty high ask for him, which I get buy-beware from.
Jets should go two ways: mid-round pick for a rental/buy-low candidate (Dadonov, Craig Smith, Athanisou, Nyquist, a million other players like that)
Or you actually solve the Problem and swing big for a really quality player, maybe having to trade a d-man in the process: (Garland, Reinhart/Duclair, Mantha if he's available)
Olofsson is in that middle ground where he's not really good enough to be making a swing for, but also not a buy-low candidate where you only have to give up a pick for. If the Jets end up acquiring him I'm not going to mope about it, but there are other players i would prefer
re: the edit: thats obviously the case, the jets can't score right now. biggest problem. But we should target scorers who actually help the team through more than just goals.
Buffalo has been outscored with Olofsson on the ice, by significant amounts, for 3 years... That's horrible. This is a case of seeing the goals and not checking to see if its a good player, or a bad player with a good shot.

Umm, basically everyone on BUF has been badly outscored over the past 3 years.

Eichel and Hall have a worse GF% than Olofsson with BUF. They must be empty calorie players too, right?

Has a lot more to do with horrible goaltending and defense than it has to do with his 5v5 game. He's improved drastically in this regard.

The fact of the matter is, Olofsson is 11th in the league in G/60 this year.

Thompson 7th 2.12
Pasta 8th 2.01
Rantanen 9th 1.98
Svechnikov 10th 1.97
Olofsson 11th 1.95

The trade package offered here is laughable.

I'd be happy to see anyone in the Jets forward group that could score a goal cause they have soooo much deadweight in a very stale group.

Lol. No. Eichel and Hall actually outchance their opponents. Olofsson gets no actual chances and gives up a ton. He's a shot and nothing else. Which is fine, but his 5v5 play is horrible, you can't even defend that.
Comparing Olofsson to Eichel and Hall. Lol.

I never said the trade package was fair, its not, its way undervalued. I just don't want the player. That's all.

Yea me too, we should've made a trade over the summer, but Chevy sat on his hands. Hoping for something soon, but who knows

He has a 49.54 CF% over the past 3 years on some really bad teams. That's not horrible. He had 29A compared to 20G last year. How is he only a shot?

Is he known for his 2-way game? Absolutely not. Is he horrible defensively? Absolutely not.

You don't want him, that's fine. I'd prefer to keep him.

And after scoring tonight (and not being on the ice for a GA against against NJ, even though his defense is horrible), he's moved up to 7th in G/60, right behind McDavid.

And, if you remove Vrana and Myers who have only played 23 minutes each, he's 5th in the league in G/60.
