Retention on reilly is not a concept that exists in the real world.

rigghtt... but it could if it helps move him a long... not sure why we wouldn't entertain a little bit of retention.

Columbus isn't even making the playoffs this year, So no reason to spend a 4th on a bottom pairing LD.

Reilly is currently buried in the minors, So you'd need to pay other teams to take him off your hands. not the other way around.

Reilly did find a home...in Providence.
I never understood why he got 3 million AAV. It's the B's mess and they'll have to pay to clean in up

That’s a no from Columbus. Don’t need him and don’t want him. Maybe if he had 1 year left on his contract with all the injuries but not with 2 years left.

Given it was Kekalainen that Reilly gave that whole "no, I'm totally going to sign" song-and-dance to before bolting, I don't think he'd be welcomed here even then.

Because the only point of moving him is cap relief. That’s why.

Columbus isn't spending an asset on a player they could've claimed for free on waivers earlier this year. Not to mention they'd be about as lucky to touch Reilly as they are Jeff Carter.

Reilly deal doesn’t happen and isles don’t need depth scoring they have plenty of middle 6 wingers

I don't hate the price for Smith(probably could get even a little more tbh) but the Isles have plenty of middle-6 depth and don't need more - if they're spending assets on a winger it's going to be for a top line guy to go with Barzal.
