LOL do you really think that an offer of an aging journeyman, an undersized defenseman (Canucks already have too many), a 3rd round pick and a single 1st round pick is gonna get Bo WITH retention?

caps pass. strome has fit in really well and is under team control, would need to be a massive overpay and robertson isn't that

5'11" isn't undersized and he would likely already be your best RD which says way more about how terrible your defence is. Niemela is a good player and will be a good NHL top 4 defenceman down the road. Kerfoot an aging journeyman? He's a year older than Horvat. You guys seem to think you have McDavid when you have a 60 point player.

Agree with you. Yeah Horvat would help the Leafs this season, but by how much? Leafs don't have many NHL prospects, I certainly wouldn't trade Niemela.
Yeah I know "tweaking" is fun, but does it really make the Leafs better now or in the future.
Leafs fans (and others) should be impressed by this team. Sixth in the NHL, top three Dmen injured, two goalies have been injured, and last years MVP has just been NHL pretty good this season. What's the panic?

I think this is a year to go for it. As much to prevent other teams as it is to improve us. But just one addition. I hope ROR but we'll see

No matter what the Leafs do in the regular season, it sure looks like another Atlantic division show down. Bruins, Leafs, Tampa and whoever (I'm guessing Florida)

Might be some interesting talk next season. Matthew/Nylander/Brodie all upcoming UFAs. Do the Leafs go for in 23/24 or do they blow it up for futures, and have lots of cap going into the summer of 2024?

I’d love to know how all canuckle fans know instinctually (like a school of fish) to pivot from “we’re a great team and we’re going to make the playoffs and do some damage” to - once reality hits and the team is average at best - “ we have great players and you need to pay a king’s ransom for our great players” tears of joy .
Serious overpay for a rental Horvat; i like him as a player but he does not play a position of need, would not play on PP1, and is not a great PKer so I think we target impact wingers only (at a more reasonable acquisition cost).

They are resigning Matthews and Nylander, likely try to keep Brodie but at a reduced cost. Then the next year have more flexibility when JT's salary is likely cut in half. This year though makes sense. Lots of good rentals available

Value wise this is a competitive offer for Horvat. Personally I'm not interested in Niemela at all. He's not the style of RHD the Canucks need (especially after the addition of Bear).

IMO Niemela doesn't become a regular NHL player. Now I could be wrong on that and he certainly has value and potential to be a top 4dman. I just wouldn't bet on it personally.
