I think it might be a slight overpay but close to reasonable for both sides

I’m not a Shakir fan but I don’t see how SJS says no to this IMO

Timo Meier is not getting the best futures-based return for a winger in a decade.

Either take out Holtz or take out the first and Shakir

It's a hefty price for sure. Could potentially take out Holtz and replace him with boqvist but I don't know if that gets it done.

Meier is the perfect addition for NJ though. Responsible ppg powerforward that is only 26yrs old. He's also good buddies with hischier which would help the transition.

Ultimately I don't know what it would cost NJ to get him and hopefully it is a bit less than this but I'd be willing to go as far as this offer to make it happen.

At $8.5m a year, its an overpay. Only reason to offer this much is if he extends and at team-friendly AAV.

On a scale, so something like…

$6.5m x 6 years = Holtz + Muk + 1st + 3rd
$7.2m x 6 years = Holtz + 2024 1st + 3rd
$7.8m x 7 years = Holtz + 2023 2nd
$8.5m x 7 years = Foote + 2024 1st + 3rd
$9.8m x 7 years = Foote + 2023 2nd + 3rd
$10m x 1 year = Two 2nds

(Give or take)

No my guy. Johnsson is a cap dump. So you’re saying either:
-1st+cap dump+Muk(good prospect)
-Holtz+cap dump

I mean last year at the deadline Lehkonen, who has never scored 20 goals and has a career high in points of 31, got a 2nd and a good prospect.

Meier is far better, and both being RFAs at time of trade. There were no cap dumps involved in that trade.

Take out Johnsson, then. They don't need to dump him to you lol It's not that critical.

Any team you trade Meier to is going to functionally require someone to move money, by the way.

A B prospect and a 2nd was the Lehk trade. A first and good prospect OR a bluechip (which arent ever traded) will be the Meier trade.

Holtz 23 1st for Meier and we’re willing to take Johnson back to make it happen.
your asking for a 35 goal scorer last year who is on pace for 40 this year, who is only 26. those almost never become available, the last 3 are skewed Fiala was moved because of cap issues, Debrincat out of desperation to fire off a rebuild, and Tkatchuk because he wanted out. the fact is weather you use it or not he is arbitration eligible and has the QO so it’s not a pure rental and guys like him cost 3+ 1sts. your 23 1st will be in the 23-26 range so it’s only worth 1 first, if it was 6-12 it would be worth 2, and Holtz is a prize but only worth 2 1sts much like Eklund. put them together and that’s fair Value for Meier. who gives you a premier power forward just hitting his prime as your contention window is opening and will give you 6+ prime years
