Martin is on a standard contract and 2 way contract

Not sure what the 2 way in your description mean but if it’s to be in the ahl, doesn’t mean he can just go to the ahl, you have to waive him if he’s on a 1 way or 2 way contract, all that means is 2way there are 2 different salaries in the ahl and nhl

Canes like Finn's. Retain half and see if Donny bites. His Dad played in Carolina.

I thought he would be waiver exempt. I was looking for a way to add another goalie. I guess we might as well keep Tokarski as number 3.

Waiver exempt is basically exclusively for players on the first couple years of their elc.

Either you have to carry him on the active roster as a healthy scratch or waive him and hope for the best

We could carry him as the 23rd roster player then. If we sent him down my guess is someone would claim him.

Why would the Canucks do this trade? 0 reason to trade Martin right now, especially when Demko has been struggling.

Reality is there's most likely a statu quo in Ottawa right now

The team is for sale and will most likely be sold in the near future

New management (hired by new ownership) might want to use next year's cap space differently than adding Kapanen's 3.2 AAV

Not that it really matters but Spencer Martin is on a one way deal and was specifically signed to be Vancouvers backup. Doubt they are looking to trade him away
