Leafs going to add something of value to the Detroit trade to make it worth while for them? Otherwise we just keep Suter.

Leafs aren’t adding anything. Technically kerfoot is a better point producer that can play in the top six, he’s struggling right now but he has a higher ceiling and better offensively than a 3rd line shutdown Center.

Actually they seem closer in talent than I thought, also suter is younger by a few years. It’s up to Detroit if they want to keep him and pay that $$$ or they want to move on, they have the 3rd and 4th line centers already with ramussen and veleno. So I could see them wanting to cut the ties

No point for Detroit to do it. I don't think it makes them any better. Kerfoot doesn't play in the top 6 for us. Detroit would need something of significance in order to do this.

Neither does suter, he plays 12mins avg, that’s very low for 3.75M

If Detroit was pinching pennies they wouldn't have signed so many free agents. Still no reason for Detroit to do it.

So they want to overpay a player who’s not living up to his contract ? Just because they signed quality top 6 players doesn’t mean they want to waste money

First off Suter maKes 3.25M not 3.75M and 12 minutes is very normal for players making that kind of money.

Trading Robertson for a pick doesn't do much for the Leafs. Well, unless it's a 1st, but who's paying that?

I agree Robertson is that gritty player Toronto has been looking for.

I don't think either team makes that Detroit trade. They are very similar and familiarly with players and system keeps both of them on their current teams. I really don't think Toronto is as bad of shape as some Leaf's fans think they are. They are 4-3-3 against the Western Conference, 8-2-2 and against the Eastern Conference and 3-1-1 in the division. They didn't get off to a great start, but you also don't want to peek at the start of the season.

I noticed that our third line lacks chemistry. Holmberg is a nice find but he has a 35% on draws. So the need for a decent Center is needed. And kerfoot isn’t a Center. That’s why I’m doing the trade, to help our Center depth and try to upgrade the chemistry. Holmberg-suter-engvall would be a decent shutdown line

That’s clearly a 2nd round. Which is closer to a late first.

I don't think the trade it self is far off, but do the Wings really need more lefthanded wingers? I much rather trade Suter for futures.

Suter has played mostly as a bottom 6 winger this season. Rasmussen has been playing well since the end of last season and I they've been using Veleno as a center quite a bit. During the offseason I thought Suter or Veleno would be traded this season and the way it looks so far Suter will be the one going.
