Coughlan fits in nicely next season as a 3rd paring RD behind Brodie and Liligren. If he develops as I suspect he should, the year after, Leafs have Liligren, Coughlan and possibly Neimela as the right side.
Now..... this all depends on whether the Leafs brass and keeping a Bunting in the fold. I would say there is a consensus that Knies jumps directly into the lineup, and I am.one that says Steeves makes this team in 23-24, making the LW Bunting, Knies and Steeves over the top 3 lines.
If the brass cannot keep Bunting, then yeah, it leaves a hole.
Having said that, long term, this deal can do a tonne for the Leafs if the right circumstances unfold.
