Trade two young pieces and sign Schenn to 2M AAV. Interesting approach.

But hey, at least you have a face puncher now. I'm sure lots of people will love that

What a terrible thought Thinking Timmins is an NHLer, and not having Sandin in the Leafs top 6. And trading Robertson for a hope down the road, that's poor too. Brodie has been a career, right sided dman, keep him there.

Giving a 33 year old 7/8 defenceman more than the league minimum is par for the course for the "we need grit" crowd. But he hits and blocks shots! Who cares if he's a terrible skater, has no skill and can't play above the 3rd pair and also was in the AHL 2 seasons ago.

thinking he isnt a NHL player based off his 40 first games is also a terrible thought

Of course we know why a player blocks shots and hits......His team doesn't have the puck when he's on the ice.

Injuries have certainly side tracked his development. The skill is there. This could prove to be a filthy Dubas deal if he can stay healthy.

One of the few times I will vehemently disagree with @palhal

based off potential its already a huge win for the leafs, douglas is a 4th line center at best, and he took a huge step back this year

Hey I agree with you. Getting Timmins for a 4th line Marlie was a great deal for the Leafs. But what I disagreed with the post, was putting Brodie on left side and Sandin to the right.
Leafs got figure out who the / 6th/7th/8th Dmen next summer after Reilly, Sandin, Giordano, Brodie and Liljgren. Don't think it will be Schenn at 2m, is Holl resigned? Holloway? Is Benn resigned? Kral work his way to the NHL? And as you suggest, it could be Timmins.

OK. Misread your post.

Yes, playing Brodie on the left side when you don't have to is just silly. Playing Sandin on the right side just no.

As for who the 3rd pairing RD is?

Benn is a fantastic 7th guy now. Would bring him back for that roll.

Holl..... maybe if the Leafs can't find an upgrade.

My real thought process is Soucy. Yes, he is likely going to cost more than $2 million per (I see 3.5 million), but he is such an underrated asset that can play both sides very well; and more importantly can play top 4 minutes when needed.

If I am Dubas, that would be my play. Optimal versatility for a decent cost point. Soucy just brings more to the table than the usual Chychurn/Mayfield ideas imo..... meaning no disrespect to thier respective abilities.

A right side of Brodie, Liligren, Soucy and Benn/Timmins (seeing how the later fairs), is deep and competent.
