Oh boy, that is awful for Vancouver. No 2023 first round pick, no top prospect, no RHD. Somehow went 0 for 3 on this trade

Why would the Canucks take that? Fills zero needs for them

Bro you got a young top 6 NHLer, a 2021 first rounder, and a 2nd for a guy shooting double his career average and a pending UFA you apparently can’t afford. This is an very good return for Horvat, holy hell

The Canucks don’t need a young, cost controlled top 6 forward in exchange for a rental?

Ah yes, another winger, a former high pick. and a second. Tell me what needs this trade fills?

No. We have too many wingers. We will need to trade at least 2 in the next couple years

It fills the "getting good value for a player we are basically forced to trade" need. I'd be furious if the Devils paid this price for Horvat. He's far out kicking his coverage. I'd be over the moon if someone gave the Devils an offer like this for Severson lmao

Also! He has played center before! lol

There will be plenty of teams that will be willing to trade assets the Canucks need. 2023 first and top prospect. Not an outrageous ask for Vancouver. What they don't need is another winger

If the Canucks prioritize current perceived needs over maximizing value when theyre incredibly far away from being a contender, idk what to tell you.

How is this maximizing value? I think most people rather have a 2023 first and top prospect rather than Sharangovich

Frany Vatrano isn't on the trade block, if we want Severson, well wait until the off-season.

Well, you may get the first, but I can't see how a 24 year old RFA 25 goal scorer is worth less than a first from a contender.

But you won't get a first /and/ a top prospect. At least not a prospect with significantly more pedigree than Stillman.

Can you think of a rental center like horvat who drew that much?

This proposal is far from "maximizing value." If the Canucks move Horvat there will be lots of teams interested and likely a bidding war.

Can you think of a rental center producing at the rate Horvat has been? Stillman has been very underwhelming in the OHL at 19 years old

I think most GMs are smart enough to see he’s shooting double his career average, man.

He is shooting above his career high yes, not double. Still, you haven't justified why the Canucks trade their best trade piece for a player in a position of strength, and an underproducing prospect, and a future second round pick. 2023 first and an A prospect is not an outrageous ask for a guy like Horvat. If scrubs like Nick Foligno, and Ben Chiarot can get first round pick +, surely Horvat can

This fills no needs for Vancouver and they’re not even shopping Horvat. They’re working on re-signing him.

But you’re right a Jersey fan knows more of what Canucks would want or need than Canucks fans and Horvat isn’t even worth a 1st

with the 2023 2nd instead of 1st then I'd imagine SJ would want a better prospect added than Walsh. What about Holtz+Mukhamadullin+2nd ?

Ottawa just lost Hellberg on waivers (who was excellent in his 1 game)

They're not trading for Blackwood
