One of the more reasonable posts....and trade value for the Leafs going for it. And certainly wouldn't mind adding a veteran Dman like Jensen. But right now, Holl is the Leafs best Dman, and he is now the 7th Dman?

No retention maybe. Sean will fetch a 1st rd pick and a top prospect at the TDL.

    That isn’t happening.

Also for the caps trade I would take it but If it could be a 4th instead of the second then that’s perfect

I think we'll be happy with what we get, but the way he's playing, with the crappy linemates he's playing with... He will fetch a 1st.

teams aren't going to treat their 1sts this year like they did last year, and Monahan's market is going to be depressed by the fact that there's a lot more available in the rental market this year - i mean, Monahan's not even the best rental center rumored to be available. there's more supply than potential demand and, unless someone goes full Zito and overpays before the deadline, 1sts are going be to moved around a lot less cavalierly this year.

agree to disagree - teams might pony up a 1st for Bo Horvat or Patty Kane, but if I'm looking for a middle-6 upgrade and the Habs are digging their heels in about getting back a 1st, I can easily just pivot to a guy like Max Domi and get similar production for a lesser price.

Also gonna push back on his "crappy linemates" - at even strength his top 4 most common partners are Suzuki, Caufield, Anderson, & Dadonov. 2 of those are Montreal's core guys, one of those is a guy that I've been told time and time again is worth a 1st++, and one of those is admittedly terrible.

I don't think habs will be interested in another 5'9 prospect although i don't think it's a bad offer

edited: the line he has had the most time on ice at 5v5 is with Suzuki & Caufield, he's been in other line combos with Dadonov & Anderson so he has more total TOI with them. real rich calling me a liar when you obviously were too stupid to figure that out

Get your facts straight. Monahan started the season on the left side of Dach as a 2nd line for several games, as Marty tried several players on the top line (Hoffman & Anderson). It didn`t work. Then he put Monahan on the right side of Suzuki for 4 games. Dach was not producing during that time so Marty brought Dach on the right side of Suzuki and brought Monahan back at center on the 3rd line with Anderson. Most of his points were earned with Monahan at center

He played the first 4-5 games of the year as a winger before moving to Center. Does not play with those guys except on the power play

i mean, you can very clearly click that link that shows what lines Sean Monahan has played at 5v5. obviously he's bounced around the lineup and played with a plethora of linemates but i don't know how you can tell me i have my facts wrong when the numbers literally say that, to date, the line he has been a part of the most at 5v5 is with Suzuki & Caufield. will that change if he's no longer playing with them? obviously, yes, but the fact is that today, November 28th, 2022, that is the line he has spent the most 5v5 time with. i don't know how you're arguing against a black and white fact like this.

It doesn't matter how much it cost to acquire Monahan. The value of a player is based on what he can bring to a team in the future.

you mean Josh Anderson who's on the 2nd and 3rd options? I thought that guy was worth a 1st++, but now Habs fans are calling him one of Monahan's "crappy linemates"?
