Chychrun Horvat

Created by: JLance

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 28, 2022

Description
The Sabres are not the kind of team that will buy a rental. A trade for Horvat will come with a guarantee from his agent that he is interested in re-signing. I'm sure I'll be verbally abused by Canucks fans and the two Yotes fans that exist.

Finding a comparable for Chychrun is a challenge. I think Weegar would be close if he was dealt alone. Alexander Romanov and Rasmus Ristolainen may be in the recent ballpark here. Chychrun is worth more, so he gets a 1st, 2nd (Risto), a top 4 young defensemen and a well regarded prospect.

Horvat as a rental gets some picks, a middle 6 center and a projected top 9 prospect. As a rental, the offer is likely fair but the Canucks are probably only considering a 1st round pick and that's not something the Sabres should even consider.

Horvat is worth a first and A prospect. Those other pieces aren’t needed

Canucks may get more in a trade, but this and any sign and trade usually is bad value. And really the Sabres have ":lots" of young centres. Though Horvat would be help immediately, is he really needed?
Why Chychrun? Sabres have plenty of LHD.

The horvat stuff is really puzzling to see.

We have Thompson and cozens (and alot of young players after) and aren't a contender yet to add a player who will leave his prime quickly after signing

Dahlin plays rhd and power can too. I don't hate the idea as long as thr price isn't crazy.

He has term, a good aav and is young enough to fit the roster

The Sabres have been rumored to like him for a long time. Even the local news confirmed the rumors. Marek and Friedman describe why it would be a good idea, especially if he can play RD.

The Sabres would diversify their center talent with Horvat, with our closest player probably being Cozens. The Sabres have some nice center prospects but NHL level, we could use one more.

That's certainly a thought, but I think Horvat and an addition like Chychrun gets us close or into playoff contention in the next year. Cause Mitts aint it.

I can understand Canucks passing, I don't think the Sabres can offer a 1st. They have a lot of prospects to dangle so maybe that direction is chosen. However, the Coyotes would gladly take more young pieces. If they'd like a Rosen or a Kulich instead of that 1st, fine.

imagine buffalo trading for Chychrun and Horvat and somehow still own Krebs, Quinn, JJP.
even still have Savoie, Rosen and Levi.
