They can afford to move Reinhart if Duclair doesn't drop off significantly from last year. The move frees up cap for them, not just to activate Duclair but they will have 1m or so to work with and would have added a decent depth piece in Dube.

The mock trade is just a skeleton, so can't judge it based off value.

But Reinhart is much better than duclair.

Only barkov and tkachuk play more than him and he plays almost 2 full minutes more than any other forward.

Move someone else.

Hence the picks/prospects. I expect Calgary adds value wise but Florida isn't exactly in a great position to make demands and it's pretty much confirmed that they will not be moving Hornqvist. The idea here is that they add LD depth going into the playoffs and next year while also creating cap space, I think they end up with like 1.7M extra in this deal as a 21 man roster. Gives them a lot more flexibility with call ups instead of running a 17 man squad again

Im not sure he's viewed as "much better." They play him almost strictly on Lundell's wing, which is the 3rd line when Barkov is healthy (he's just sick right now). When Duclair comes back he will almost certainly be reunited with Bennett on the 2nd line. It's worth noting that Dube and Bennett also had very good chemistry together in Calgary

And yet Reinhart is 3rd among forwards in ice time and was 4th last year

He would be a huge coup for Calgary if Florida is that dumb

I'd imagine you'd have to be giving up a better dman than Kylington to acquire Reinhart

Moving Bennett wouldn't make much sense. The other option is just to trade Duclair away or wait and see if someone gets injured before he returns at the end of December.

That's because of his PK ice time and that he is currently averaging 4+ minutes on the PP.

They aren't going to move any of Barkov, Bennett, Tkachuk of Verhaeghe before him and they aren't moving any defense so it will either be him or Duclair that goes.

You underrate Kylington, he's a top 4 dman on most teams and he's cheap. It's a shame he's not playing right now to prove that. The point here is that placing him on LTIR allows them to activate Duclair

Will definitely be interesting to see what FLA does

I’d love to reunite Huberdeau with a RW he was previously successful with, especially Duclair or Reinhardt.

Although definitely not ideal, I’m not opposed to Hoffman or Dadonov if we could get them at least 50% retained, assuming they don’t cost much to acquire and we aren’t able to secure better options at the TDL. We should have enough available Cap Space by then.

Then again, we should be looking internally with our available Wranglers before we do any of the above
