Very solid signing. Hintz is super underrated, the Stars should be thrilled that they got him for so long. This does set the stage for a pretty massive JRob extension in the future though...

Fair deal, Hintz has been very good for the past couple of years, not a steal but definitely not overpaid

This is pretty much the going rate for top line centers nowadays. Good deal for Dallas.

If he plays in a Canadian market, he WOULD get sooooooo much more love, he is so good. Great job by DAL to lock him up. With Miro Heiskanen, Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger, DAL having Wyatt Johnston and Ty Dellandrea have been fantastic this season, Logan Stankoven tearing up the WHL, this team is set to be good for a long time.

It’s a shame they didn’t get Robertson locked up to

Because Roope has already done the bridge deal route to help the team and the expectation is that escrow will be paid off this season so the cap will rise significantly this offseason. The Stars used every available penny in cap space to sign ROBO at the time. Once his bridge deal runs out, he will be making well over $10 million a season.

Well, he's 3 years older than Robertson and this is buying UFA years, but the biggest issue is that Robertson couldn't be locked up for 8 years because of the cost and the lack of cap space this season for Dallas. Had his contract been up after this year, Robertson definitely would've gotten the 8 year deal.

this is a great contract for DAL and Hintz.... i think VAN would have liked it better if it started with a 7 though, this will drive up the price to re-sign horvat

Those who voted no have clearly not watched a single Dallas game since Hull was in the crease

Robertson is signed for 4 seasons and is still an RFA at expiry. When that deal expires the cap will have increased and other larger deals will have expired (Benn, Lindell, Marchment, Faksa, Suter). Having to pay Robertson more on the next deal is hardly an issue for the Stars.

There's a lot of really ignorant comments both on here and on Twitter of people who have clearly never seen him play.

Hintz is so very important to Dallas. It isn't even just the goals and points, he's a fast as hell skater and plays a 200ft game. He kills penalties, blocks shots, takes the body.

If he played in a bigger market people would not be saying the things they're saying. This contract is not a steal but it's far from an overpay. I hate to take a shot at other team's players but look at what Barzal got, look at what Marner makes and tell me how this is an overpay.

I don’t see the “a lot” of ignorant comments. But this is a really good signing for player and team. He is clearly their #1 C. Buys years of FA. Nothing to hate about this.

And for those who are worried about Robertsons contract. Be patient. The dude is an RFA at the end of it. And is clearly the new MacKinnon for being the most underpaid player in the NHL. When the cap goes up in 4 years I’m sure Dallas will be able to afford him.

Absolute W. Based on how good he has been, this contract is about as fair as it gets.

The discourse from that contract (I was definitely one of thinking it was too early) was completely unwarranted. Tage is a stud

I did have some questions about that contract (mainly due to the very high shooting percentage) and I had a feeling that he was more of a $5.75-6M~ guy than 7M+ but man I've been proven wrong too.

Robertson is either going to be happy because he can make so much more now, or he is going to be pissed that the Stars squeezed him so much.
