Plausible things to see before the deadline if were selling

Created by: canadi
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2022
Published: Nov. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Note - I don't think all of these will happen, as that's just blowing up the roster, but I could see at least a couple happening at the same time. I could also see someone like Dvorak or maybe Savard being traded, I just think it's less likely.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Blais, Samuel
  2. 2023 1st round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
* worse of the 2 picks NY has
Blais is just for cap, if NY has an injury or makes cap space he's not needed
NYR
  1. Monahan, Sean ($3,187,500 retained)
  2. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
2.
MTL
  1. Johnsson, Andreas
  2. Walsh, Reilly
  3. 2023 1st round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
I know it's expensive for that cap hit, but Hughes won't settle for less, he might even want more if the Devils are really high on Anderson. Johnsson is for cap
3.
MTL
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse
Additional Details:
Pool party is really struggling, and if hoffman can get like 20 goals and the oilers aren't playing well they might want to try something new
EDM
  1. Hoffman, Mike
  2. 2023 4th round pick (MTL)
4.
MTL
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi
  2. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Kapanen gets dumped; Penguins get an experienced reliable defenceman on a decent cap
PIT
  1. Edmundson, Joel
Additional Details:
* pick is top 10 protected
5.
MTL
  1. 2023 4th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
*This would be for one of the three. They're all cheap rentals but if they cost any less, I don't really see a point in trading them
MIN
  1. Byron, Paul ($1,700,000 retained)
  2. Dadonov, Evgeni ($2,500,000 retained)
  3. Drouin, Jonathan ($2,250,000 retained)

Monahan, Edmunson, and Anderson are not worth 1st round picks.

All are closer to having negative value than they are to the valuations depicted here.

-Rangers have decent C depth (Mika-Trocheck-Chytil-Goodrow are their current guys), I can't see them spending a 1st rounder on another one. If they add, it's more to add a top flight winger or strengthen their bottom pair D, I would think.

-Habs fans need to look at Jersey's lineup and answer a simple question: when everyone is healthy, who in the top 9 does Josh Anderson displace? I'll even agree to forget the cap (doesn't work even with Johnsson going back) if Montreal fans agree to forget the "reports" (a guy with a blog who majorly contradicted himself in the post every Habs fan is pointing at.) Just answer me who Josh Anderson is going to replace in the Devils lineup, and then ask if that makes him worth a 1st and a good prospect.

-Speaking of cap not working, Edmonton doesn't have the room to do this even if Ken Holland suffered a major head injury and thought it would be a good idea.

-Doesn't make a ton of sense for the Pens, IMO. I could see them moving Kapanen in a change of scenery trade but treating him like a cap dump when he's a 26 year old making $3.2M to score 30-35 points and play solid defense is just silly. And while Edmundson is an upgrade, I can't see them paying a '23 1st for an upgrade at LD3 basically. (Pettersen-Dumo-POJ turning into Petterssen-Edmundson-Dumo.)

-Nobody's giving up a 4th for any of those guys. Drouin's hurt (again), Dadonov has been a bum, and Paul Byron's basically on a milk carton at this point.

Habs fans: We want Miles Wood

Kent Hughes: We have Miles Wood at home!

*Miles Wood at home* -> Josh Anderson

who in the top 9 does Josh Anderson displace?

At the moment that's not even the right phrasing of the question.
It should be, 'even with Bastian and Palat currently injured, who does Anderson beat out for a spot in the Devils lineup?'
It's not Boqvist, he's been playing quite well as their 3C since Palat got injured.
It's not Wood or McLeod who's been playing way above their usual level on the 4th line.
It's not Holtz, you know that winger they drafted 7th overall a couple of years back...
