you are just glossing over the part of the tweet they were there in montreal for a meetings.
"
Large Ottawa presence because Senators are holding some team meetings in Montreal
Damn, what a relief...
I don't want Pierre Dorion to make any other decision. It looks like the team will get sold in the near future so STATU QUO until then. If I was a potential buyer, I would make that very clear

Karlsson going back to OTT would be fun.
Fun but unfortunately it would be pretty hard to make it work.
With Chabot, Sanderson and Zub (and maybe some others like Brannstrom, JBD, Kleven, etc), a lot of cap hit will eventually be dedicated to them
Karlsson cap hit make it very hard and it's very unlikely that SJ retains a lot and if they do, it gives Karlsson significant value so it would then cost a pretty penny in assets

Sharks would probably jump at the chance to move Karlsson even if they had to retain 2-3 mil, pass him through a third term so they can take some salary on, which is probably how this deal will go down. He isnt coming back to Ottawa because why would he want too.
Because Melnyk passed away and his daughters are about to sell the team. Alfie (his mentor and Swedish close friend) is also most likely going to be involved in the next ownership and management. Sens are also about to rise once all of this is solved and have a real NHL coaching staff (Ducharme and co probably > DJ and co)
