Ottawa would not have the option to acquire Tampa's 2025 1st.

It might belong to the Chicago Blackhawks as part of the trade for Brandon Hagel.

Ottawa is not interested in getting scammed.

Try again.

Tampa could very easily trade their '25 1st in any deal, albeit the condition would be there that it could belong to Chicago and would have to ha e that language added.. Considering the odds that Tampa is finishing bottom 10 this year are very, very slim, the '25 pick is certainly on the table. Tampa isn't the team that needs to try again. Whether or not the trade is good for both sides is another story, but the trade pieces are fine and no one is getting "scammed".

The 2025 1st could also belong to Chicago if Tampa finishes in the bottom 10 next year.

My beef is that the author of this post takes none of this into account.

Not that the pick isn't tradable.

If Tampa finishes bottom 10 next year, then the '26 1st transfers unconditionally. Only if Tampa has a top.10 pick this year does the '25 1st go. Should.Tampa somehow finish with a top 10 pick both this year and next, then both '25 and '26 1sts transfer. The OP could have mentioned something, but I'm pretty sure they took the slight leap that Tampa won't have a top 10 pick this year.

Let's say the '23 1st is not Top 10, but that the '24 1st is.

Wouldn't Chicago receive a first for '23 and a first for '25?

I haven't seen anything from the conditions that would suggest otherwise.

Everything I've read sets it out clearly that if the '24 pick is top 10, Chicago gets the '26 1st rd pick unprotected. If this year's 1st is top 10, then Chicago gets the '25 1st unconditional, and if both '23 and '24 1sts are top 10, then both '25 and '26 1sts transfer unconditionally.
