Kings Playoff Push

Trades:

PHILLY
Borderline blockbuster deal. A buy high on Hart and a buy low on Provorov, Philly absorbs Peterson's deal and dumps off Provorov's cap space. Provorov certainly isn't bad but he's been on a bit of a down turn since the 2020 season and with Sanheim's new deal, there's a new top pairing guy in town.
Mikey Anderson is a very good stop gap as well, as a youngish d-man he'll be a good asset for the Flyers to use or flip for more picks at the draft. They also have York in the wings plus lots of cap tied up in the d-corps.
Getting Turcotte on a "second chance" plus good picks to build around, is a great deal for them. Lemiuex is just salary dump but a serviceable bottom 6 grinder.
I also wouldn't say it's impossible for Peterson to bounce back and a retained deal with him in a year or two may be possible to recoup more assets, but it opens the door for Sandstrom to get more runway.

SENS
Pure cap dump, but Roy isn't bad. Sens desperate for RHD help and take advantage of Kings needing to shed cap and a log jam at RD. A future 5th is a great deal for the Sens getting a good player with another year on a fair contract.

PREDS
Again, mostly a cap dump, but swapping for more positions of need. Lizotte may be worth more, but he hasn't been great in the role he's been asked to played this season, and getting a good heavy player on a very cheap deal will provide excellent playoff depth for the Kings. 2 years for a young 3C on a decent deal could help the Preds find a bit more energy in their lineup.

OVERALL
Hart's age definitely fits the Kings timeline and gives them a potential stud in net for the future; Quick is still a good platoon option as well for now.
Provorov isn't too young, but gives them some flexibility on the line a much better LD that they've been missing since Muzzin was traded. Provorov in more of 2 or 3 D spot may help him find his form with less pressure to play top line matchups. Kings pay a lot, but this really pushes them into contention for 2 years plus.

I imagine it takes a ton more to get that package from Philly. Even if neither has lived up to expectations, you're only sending a first, two seconds, a massive cap dump, a prospect who can't stay healthy and two bottom of the lineup players

Sens accept if Roy is on the table. Would give a much better pick than that if necessary

Yikes, Kings won't move Anderson and Roy when they need defense help more than anything.

Lizotte not being worth more than Jeannot aside, removing Tanner from NSH's roster would be the antithesis of "a bit more energy in their lineup".

Turcotte still has high value to most teams based on age/draft position, so if you go 2 first, 2 seconds, a legit NHL d-man, and a cap dump goalie, it's not so far off. Provorov's value is very diminished from where he was a couple years ago and I don't see it going up too much more.

Should rephrase that to say "add some offensive life to Nashville's bottom 6". Jeannot is a good energy player, but doesn't contribute offensively at all.

And how do you know he still has high value? He's played 8 of Ontario's 17 games this year, and played 35 games all of last year. He can't stay on the ice, and when he does, it's not like he's dominating. He's not playing poorly, but it's not what you'd expect from a 21 year old 5th overall pick. To say that he still has high value but the value of Provorov and Hart is so diminished is just inconsistent.

This is like a common fallacy in most sports circles that people go "first round pick" as an absolute value. He was a top 10 pick less than 3 years ago, he still has clear value. He's not worth a "top 10 value" anymore, but if he was a 25th overall pick, people wouldn't be so reactionary about him. Good example: look at what Alex Nylander got in a trade after being pretty good in the AHL and bad in the NHL. Turcotte arguably has better stats than he did, as well.
Philly is totally hamstrung on the blue line with their contracts, Provorov alone is likely not worth more than an early 2nd at this stage with his money. Hart as well is playing well, but 2 years ago he was arguably the worst goalie in the league and not great last year at all. I'd argue this deal is much more risky from LA's side than Philly's side in the end.

What? Jeannot was the rookie goal leader last season. Lizotte's best effort to date was 10 goals, 24 pts last year.

Nashvilles bottom 6 offensive woes has alot to do with the way hynes is structuring the bottom 6. Hes turned the bottom line into a pure grindfest.

Provorov is only worth what now? A second? Lol.
