I agree. I wouldn't give up half that much.

Ok

I went through it extensively earlier today. Goaltenders are not worth 1st round picks under any circumstances, either in the draft or via trade.

We will have to agree to disagree then.

The Jets aren't trading Helly at this time and a steaming like of nothing doesn't give them a reason to.

I have a hard time seeing the Kings paying less than a first rounder to dump Petersen, since nobody is claiming him. I mean, the Flames had to pay a first to dump 1 year of Monahan at about 6mil, whereas Petersen has 3 years at 5mil per, with a M-NTC. Since he would more than likely block a trade to Arizona and Chicago, good luck finding anyone that would be willing to take him.

My guess would be for LA to move him, they bite the bullet and eat half his deal to lower how much they pay to dump him and make it a lot more palatable for the teams he doesn’t block.

Much too much for Chychrun. And having traded our 2022 first, we shouldn't be trading our 2023 first. To put it another way, if seven years of Kevin Fiala was worth a first and our second-best defense prospect (who wasn't signed), how in the world is Chychrun worth a first, a second, a third, our best wing prospect, an A defense prospect who has passed his audition, and a roster player who has pretty much assured us that he's an NHL third-liner?

Your premise is wrong -- we have no pressing urgency to move him. He clears waivers and goes down to Ontario or he doesn't.

While there is a point to not overpaying for goalies (and putting more towards goaltending depth)….a Vezina caliber goalie, on pace for 67 starts, making $6.2 million for two years is worth a 1st pick if you are a playoff team.

Agree to disagree. I don't think there is a circumstance where a goaltender is ever worth a 1st round pick. The times it has happened in recent history, the team acquiring the goaltender came to regret it, with very few exceptions.
