Just a ton of picks tell me which trades are reasonable

Created by: bogdown
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 2, 2022
Published: Dec. 2, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Canucks have lacked a foundation to construct a sturdy house on for years. The core is weak, there is no buy-in to the system, and no energy on the team anymore. It's time for a proper rebuild executed by a new management group and a new coaching staff. Boudreau doesn't deserve this Travis Green treatment and Alvin and Rutherford have no clue what they are doing behind the helm.

I agree but I want to see what Islanders fans think. I think that you could fetch two firsts and a prospect for him.

Hughes is untouchable. He is the player you rebuild around

Columbus isn’t moving that much for a rental, adding Horvat won’t pull them out of being a bottom 5 team in the league this season. Columbus is lower in the standings than Vancouver is, they aren’t trading futures for a rental. Especially a player the GM drafted earlier then he was projected to go because he liked him so much.

Ottawa is not giving you a draft pick for someone on LTIR.

Try again.

Not just you, but all Canucks fans:

Stop trading Myers to Toronto and Horvat to Columbus.

Myers has negative value and none of your trades include a sweetner. And Columbus is at the bottom of the standings. Why on earth would they spend to get a UFA? They're better off keeping their assets and going after a center in free agency or at the draft.

Good deal for WPG, I bet you could get a prospect out of them along with a 2nd rounder as well.

Counterpoint - if we think we can get Horvat to extend at a sweetheart deal, that proposal becomes viable.

Admittedly, after seeing the HIntz extension, that's probably even more of a pipedream than it was before, but still.

I don't see the blues trading for Miller at all. If they are selling ROR it will be for picks and prospects

And honestly I’d be very hard pressed to move Cuelamens, dude looks legit, I see him as the 2nd pair RHD of the future but could also be top pair depending on how chemistry works with Werenski and Mateychuk on the left side.

Don’t see a reasonable trade with the Canes. Canes need wingers, not Horvat. Plus the Canucks would want Morrow and including him in a trade is unrealistic.

If Horvat signs an extension in Columbus, would you trade Horvat straight up for Ceulemans?

Islanders need a LHD, Winnipeg needs wingers, Edmonton gets two guys, both under two million. Don’t see your argument here expect for Boeser and maybe Horvat.

It would depend on the extension, if it were around 7 mil then I’d consider it, but after seeing the Hintz contract I don’t see Horvat coming in under 8 and I don’t think Columbus can afford that without paying someone to take Voracek.

Canucks take Voracek for two seconds:

To CBJ:
Bo Horvat
(Extension in place 8x8)

To VAN:
Jakub Voracek
Corson Ceulemens
2023 2nd round pick
2024 2nd round pick

Hughes is certainly not untouchable. He is nowhere close to where Makar is in terms of development and is certainly not strong enough on the puck. He got demolished last night and will continue to get demolished if he doesn't bulk up. He's also not very effective on PP1 quarterbacking. He has a fluttery, weak shot that never gets through and he doesn't have the pace to really dish the puck out, especially for the Pettersson one timer. Sure his edge work might be silky smooth, but he's overrated by Canucks fans.

No, that’s part of why I don’t want to add Horvat, I don’t want to pay extra to move someone else.

If Columbus were a contender Horvat would be a great add for them, but since they aren’t Vancouver fans need to realize Columbus isn’t in a position to be moving out rebuilding assets like top prospects and draft selections.
