Trading our 1st round pick this year would be idiotic. Trading another 1st for a pending UFA would also be idiotic. Wouldn’t do the Anaheim deal either

Unless Ottawa KNOWS Zub is gone they don't consider that. Going from an early second to a mid to late first and a 4th isn't the difference between Zub and Bear

Even if you took out the 2nd in the trade for Zub, Ottawa still says no.

Try again.

I’d love to see an Aidan McDonough for Reilly Walsh deal. Fits both teams’ needs.

I feel you are wasting Henriques talents by sticking him at 3C, but if Anaheim didn't get a better offer, we'd probably do that at the TDL or the off season.

If the Canucks were unable to sign Kuzmenko, he'd fit on the Petey for sure.

Buffalo pass, I see no point in this package for Buffalo. Another winger like Garland would make more sense.

Would you do:
Bear, Ethan
2023 1st round pick (WPG)
2023 4th round pick (VAN)
for
Olofsson, Victor
The middle 2023 2nd round pick. probably Buffalo's?

Bear may not be a great option, but he an NHL RHD and only 25 yo.
Moving up to the first round and getting a fourth would be a nice return for Victor.

Adams could have get Bear for 5th and wasn't interested.

I am bemused the trade is "Moving up to the first round and getting a fourth", Bear is superfluous!
Do you know with certainty that Waddell offered Bear to Adams?
Other than to move up in the draft show me a trade Karmanos made for a player!
Using the current standings the Sabres would move up 14 spots equivalent to the 32nd OA, a 4th and shed $2.2KK.
Kim and Terry would love that savings!

Adams said he was constantly in touch with every GM in the league and probably knew that Bear was available, even us regular fans knew that, since he was a healthy scratch and there were rumors that he would be trade. I'm not talking about the value of your trade, I'm talking about the fact that Adams is probably not interested in Bear as an improvement to the lineup for Buffalo and he is very selective in making trades or signings.
