    What would Detroit give up
    DET
    1. Hughes, Quinn
    Additional Details:
I haven’t really thought about this that much, but where would Hughes go? All I’m saying is a Hughes-Seider pair would be one of the best pairs in the league

2023 1st and Edvinsson. imho. Wings probably don't want to move the pieces to do something like this though.

That seems reasonable and I love Hughes but, trading a 19 year old 6’5” LHD who looks like a top 4 defenseman at worst makes me uneasy. If Simon wasn’t as big as he is, it’d be an easier decision. Tough one. I’d prob still do it tho.

I’d feel a lot better giving up our 2nd & 3rd best LHD prospects, William Wallinder & Albert Johanssen and as much as two 1st round picks instead.

That is one dreamy prospect pool.

Love the look of edvinsson but id do him and our 1st for Hughes anyday.

If they ever rebuilt, I think they'd want to keep Hughes but they sadly didn't go 8 years on his extension and he would be a UFA by the time they'd be potentially competitive.

I'd honestly pull the trigger on that as Vancouver.

In reality though I don't think Van management is as open to moving Quinn as I would be.

That's a fair price but I wouldn't do it that 1st is going to be a lottery pick and I think Edvinsson can be the best player in that draft class. When he was available at #6 I was really excited.

Even in a rebuild I think Hughes and Pettersson would have to be untouchable.

When the Wings drafted Zadina I was dumbfounded!!! Holland is a buffoon and is incapable of letting a falling draft prospect go by.

I can't be mad about Zadina, I thought he was a gift at that spot. That draft should have been a franchise changer but just didn't really work out.

But both Rasmussen and Mantha both fell on draft day as well. I wasn't as upset with Mantha because Detroit was still a playoff team, he didn't fall far and he was the only 50 goal scorer in the QMJHL that season. But it did become painfully obvious why he dropped. Plus the return for Mantha from Washington helps quite a bit. That 1st after another trade turned into Cossa and Vrana has 22g 10a for 32 points in 32 games. There are some durability issues but I just hope he gets the help he needs and can return to the NHL no matter what team it is.

The mantha deal should be a slam dunk win but if Vrana never plays then it's hard to look at it that way.

While Zadina never panned out, he was very high rated at the time of the draft. Everybody thought Detroit got a steal when Zadina dropped

I was hoping we would draft Evan Bouchard but, that was before Zadina dropped. When Filip was there, it was too obvious of a choice to take him. Hughes was the michigan kid so there was that hype around him but, when it comes to spending top 5-10 picks on players, personally I shy away from smallish players.

I could not have been more wrong about Quinn Hughes.

You're right going into the draft he was ranked 3rd but I don't think anyone would have taken him over Tkachuk with the way his brother was playing. When you look at the 2017-18 Wings their biggest need was D.

I honestly still can’t get over how terrible Zadina has been shooting the puck. When he shoots it looks like he’s shooting in a dream. You know when ur fighting someone in your dream and ur punches are like, landing softly. That’s how it looks when he shoots.

I want to throw up just thinking about it.

I get that. When you are at the start of a rebuild and you have a farm system that is decimated you really have to go with a sure-thing even if that player has a lower celling.
