Ahead of the season I would have wanted the Devils to jump on this, now not so much.
Severson has been integral in the Devils having three pairs being able to heavily tilt the ice in their favour, moving him out will create a big hole here as asking Walsh or Bahl to replicate Severson's performance is a very big ask.

At the same time, the Devils are ridiculously stacked at forward as is.
When Palat returns from injury there will be a pretty good forward at the NHL level having to sit out, and that's before adding Garland (whom I'm a big fan of).

Definietely not when Oel’s contract is included in the trade. But imagine a Hughes-Seider pair🔥

That looked pretty good until I saw OEL. I'm excited to see Edvinsson-Seider.

Wings can spend 15m a lot better than Quinn and OEL and keep their picks. For instance signing UFA Pasternak and a average Dman, and then keeping the picks.

Oh, it would 100% be amazing and the value is completely fair and reasonable, it just doesn't fit Detroit's strategy and timeline.

Side note, taking Zadina over Hughes will easily go down as the worst decision Ken Holland ever made...
