Neither one of those guys move the needle for the Leafs and are not worth those prices, imo.

Detroit says no. The first is nice, Robertson could be the next Zadina, and Engvall is more of the same of what the Wings have.

I'm not sure i would give bertuzzi his next contract if i am detroit. Seems like you need to choose between him and larkin because you will have to pay seider and raymond, who line up better with a potential window to compete. i imagine engvall is there to make money work.

so sure seems like bertuzzi should be traded

The way Holl is playing and what Dumba is doing this year, I don't know if even if a one for one trade would be good for the Leafs.

and thats fine. but youve seen RHD trades. he will go for more than this. doesnt mean toronto should do it, just talking about the value of the trade in front of me.

You're right>. For instance Chariot went for a 1st last season. But most TDL trades are from the bottom 12 team, non playoff team and non contenders. It's usually a bad look for fans and players if management trades a good player for futures if they are contending. So, I doubt if Minni or lot of teams are going to trade the "superior" player.

I believe Bert is gone. Larkin will get re-signed unless his contract demands exceed what SY is willing to pay. Something in the ball park of 8.75-9.25M should get it done, any more than that and he is also most likely gone. Copp being signed seems like a top 6 LW replacement long term, allowing Bert to become expendable. In saying that, other teams will have offers significantly better than this one. It won't be nearly the return that everyone wants, but the pieces will be more of what Detroit is looking for. Robertson is essentially taking another risk on Zadina. Engvall for cap makes sense in terms of this trade, but not value. He won't be re-signed, and does nothing to add to the Wings' lineup.

Bert for a 1st OR
a late first and a prospect OR
for a second and a better prospect OR
for a young, proven NHL player with term all make sense.

Bert for a late first, a coin flip, and a UFA cap swap doesn't.

I mean, only playoff teams are going to trade for him, so every 1st will be late. and you are getting a prospect. He was barely eligible for the 2019 draft, i think hes like a week older than jack quinn.

i dont think you will do better than this.

I agree that only playoff teams will seriously consider him, however Detroit has enough risky and unproven prospect/NHL players. Ras just left that club, Veleno and Zadina are there now. Robertson would get thrown into that group. You don't think Detroit will get a better offer because you are solely looking at it through Toronto's perspective, while not considering Detroit's or the other 30 teams.

Teams that could potentially have some interest in Bertuzzi as an upgrade at 1 or 2 LW (NOT SAYING ALL THESE TEAMS WANT HIM):
EAST: New Jersey, Carolina, NYI, Boston, Toronto, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Washington, Florida,
WEST: Dallas, Winnipeg, Colorado, Vegas, Seattle, LA, Nashville, Edmonton, Minnesota, Calgary, St. Louis

Most teams will view him as a rental, a few will look at him as a re-sign candidate (value determined by when he gets back vs how he performs). That in turn will add or reduce value to each team. The Pens and Capitals are a great example. Injury issues, slow starts, however the age of their core group is "WIN NOW." They cannot jump ship and decide to tear it all down while having Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Ovechkin, Oshie, etc. Adding Bertuzzi helps them stay the course. They are more likely to "overpay" for a chance to win Lord Stanley.

Other teams like Toronto don't "need" Bertuzzi and therefore will try and underpay. They won't risk the upgrade at the cost of pieces detrimental to their main goal.

Again, I don't think this is a bad offer and I'm not sure who is offering much more

Solid input lol

I'll simplify it for you.
2023 1st = good piece
Robertson = not a good piece FOR Detroit (send him elsewhere, there is no fit in Detroit. Not saying he is bad, there is no fit. He isn't needed)
Engvall = not a good piece. Strictly to off set cap. Holds ZERO value in Detroit. Won't get re-signed, and this is not a video game where he can "be flipped."

My best guesses are Edmonton, Pitt, Washington, or Calgary end up with Bertuzzi.

I doubt Detroit would go for that deal. We have no interest in Engvall or Robertson.

I would imagine a deal involving Bertuzzi & Toronto would require one of Knies or Niemela. Possibly Hirvonen.

2024 1st + Knies
2023 1st + Niemela
2023 1st + Hirvonen + 2025 2nd

If these packages are what you would consider too expensive for Toronto, then it’s just not going to happen.
