Saw the name Jenner. Instant and automatic "no". We are not trading our just-extended Captain who serves as the most reliable center we currently have.

EDIT: Oh FFS, you also made it a Kerfoot deal? Two cardinal sins in one proposal; nicely done.

Zadorov has been arguably the Flames best D this year.

I'm sure they would move him for an overpay though

Adding "bite" hasn't helped many teams including the Leafs recently. Certainly the middling Jenner, isn't worth a first and Niemela and the Leafs can spend his ongoing 3.75m just as well next season(s)
Holl has been very good lately, getting Zadarov probably isn't an improvement

How does Boone Jenner help us in anyway? No offense BlueJacket fans…good player, but we need offense in tight games not shutdown guys. For that price we should target forwards that can have an impact on offense.

That's kind of like saying Roslovic+Jiricek+2023 1st CLB (top 5 protected) is not even close enough for Tavares.

Jackets wouldn’t give up their first for JT let alone the rest lol

That's not the point. You're acting like Boone Jenner is an elite player, which Tavares is but he's not getting that return cuz it's an overpay or a good offer. You're saying Niemela+ a 1st isn't even close.

I'm not talking about whether CBJ would do either trade.

If by "middling" you mean a 20+min TOI player, who plays against every teams 1st line, creates the pace of his team, plays the pp and runs the pk , starts most shifts in the defensive zone as the center but still is leading his team in goals and on pace for another 30goal year, and just got the 'C' and extended at a FANTASTIC AAV then yes, he isn't worth that offer.... and boy, I wish we had more middling players like him.

He's worth more, and of better quality then Niemela and a late 1st. Jenner is literally untouchable, there's not alot any team would actually offer that could get him.

There's a huge difference between what a player is worth across the league and what he's worth to the team.

Jenner might be untouchable (i.e, unavailable) and require an massive overpay to get him but that doesn't mean a good prospect (who is considered one of the Leafs top prospects) + a late 1st (no team is giving a top 10 pick for him so kind of irrelevant to mention-11-16 is possible but unlikely) isn't a good offer/start to one had he been available.

Obviously, this offer is going to get rejected even if he was available because CBJ doesn't need RD prospects.

I didnt say it wasn't a good offer, just not a good enough one to aquire Jenner. Let's say Jarmo decides he's going to destroy the teams fan base...he decides to trade Jenner, it's after the lottery has happened, it's a #10-#15 pick, a top Forward prospect (NOT another defenseman, jackets are backlogged with them), and a younger middle 6 (possibly, with top 6 potential).
I know, it's alot, and that's what it'd take to get him...he means too much to the jackets and they're the ones that set his value. If a team wanted him, good luck...lol

You say you're adding bite for the playoffs but did not trade for Brendan Lemieux?

Yeah, I totally agree with you that CBJ wouldn't interested in this offer but just wanted to point out (to everyone) that what CBJ is going to expect would be an overpay. I just replied to you because you mentioned that he's untouchable, so figured I would clarify the point I was trying to make with my Tavares comparison.

I also wanted to clarify that from a Leafs perspective, the OP's trade is an overpay but like we mentioned it's not a fit for CBJ who doesn't need defense.

Appreciate that you also took the time to explain to non-CBJ fans why it would take an overpay to acquire him in the previous post and what CBJ interests are in this one.

Though Jenner is pegged as a shutdown guy he also has 300 points in 600 games and one 30 goal season. He does have the ability to score goals and with the right line mates he could be really good for the leaf's. I do not belief the Blue Jackets would accept the offer though.
