if we can get 1st rounder or 2nd rounder for Edmundson, Anderson, Dvorak or Monahan or pair them to deal for a younger 2 way player or rookie or prospect, we need to do it. If Dubois keep going this way it wouldn't be a bad idea too. Suzuki - Dubois - Beck - Mesar down the middle could help the future, and if we keep or take back Monahan even after trading him he could slot well next to Beck and Gallagher as a forcheck unit. The question mark are actually on the wing ... who is going to be able in the next 2-3 years to make the team. Dubois can also play on wing ... so wether or not we decide to put Dach at center we have another big body player to try with Suzuki and Caufield.
I know here I sacrifice two gems in Strubble and Farrell, but Dubois could really fit in our timeline.
I think management is considering resigning Monahan since he's fitting in nicely. Edmundson, Anderson, Dvo can be moved for whatever we can get that is of an area of need/draft picks to improve areas of need, I agree. Dubois would be great, but I still don't agree with paying anything for him when we're nowhere near a competitive team.
Centre options: Suzuki, Dach, Monahan, Evans, Beck, Kidney, Mesar, '23/'24 draft pick(s)
Wing options: Caufield, Slaf, Mesar, Farrell, Roy, Gally (assuming he's staying around), '23/'24 draft pick(s)
The prospect depth on this team is wonderful, trying to fast track this rebuild is a mistake. We need a minimum of the '23 draft before we go splish-splashing around with trading our assets, unless we're trading future years' draft picks ('24 & '25) for prospects/good young players while keeping most or all of our '23 picks.
What we really need to target is a top end G prospect and maybe another upper tier RD prospect. Those are our weakest points imo as it stands. When the time comes we can make a splash or two and bring in some established names but I feel like doing it now stunts the development of guys who could be in those spots for the interim, and that overall hurts our depth when going on future playoff runs.
