The issue with Comtois is after a rather good year a couple seasons ago, he has been... well..... underwhelming. It does beg the question if Verbeek will run out of patience and see this as a change of scenery deal.

He let Sam Steel go...... not lighting it up offensively, but for a young player, his defensive game is excellent. Maybe that was a function of allegations. But, it could have been a function of running out of runway.

Comtois...... I see a similar situation.

This doesn't get you dumba much less retained on him

Dumba is a 3.5M defenceman. 1st rounder will never happen for him. A 3rd and a 2nd are an overpayment.

However, in the Ducks top 6, we already have 3 youngins, at this rate we likely end up with Bedard, or Fantilli taking that number to 4, we have Strome for 4 more seasons after this, who I really don't believe he signed here for a middle 6 role, and we need to keep Henrique in a top 6 role until we move him to maximize his value.

I'm not as sold that we have a spot for him as I was in September/October.

Granted, Comtois seems to be locking himself into that middle six position, and our third line isn't exactly offensive. As with the rest of the roster, we can see there is talent there, but the line just can't seem to put it all together.

Minnesota might have to add a pick to drop Dumba.
