I think leafs wouldn't be upset it they moves those pieces. Still keeps Niemela, Knies, Minten. Could possibly recoup some of the assets if they cant afford to resign Meier or move another high end piece to make space for him.

Yeah not even close to getting Meier... that offer easily gets beaten especially with the retention. Knies would almost certainly have to be included in a trade for a player of Meier's caliber.

Also have to consider that Toronto probably can't afford to re-sign Meier as like 70% of their cap would be tied to their top-6 and one defenseman.
