5 more years of karlsson is hard to swallow even at half price.

Make the first a second for Karlsson and I would do it.

Not gonna lie - it’s a reasonable trade.

Switch the 2023 1st to a 2024 and I’d do it in a heartbeat. I’d probably still do it with the 23’ pick.

Nice job.

With that kind of retention, I could see the Jackets going for that Couture trade. The Sharks, tho, I dunno.

SJ probably wants better player pieces, especially for that much retention. I do understand the value of the 2023 1st and 2023 2nd at the cost of Father Time eventually causing regression in Karlsson's game.

Adding EK65 would be costly for either Seider and/or Hronek, as well as the Wings. Seider is due a raise after 2023-24 season. Hronek will be looking for a raise as well (assuming he has turned the corner and this play continues). Detroit would have 3RHD all over 6+ million a piece. Who is the 1, who is the 2, who is the 3? 20 minutes a night each? Who gets the power play looks? All three have offensive upside, but of those three Seider is the most "defensive." As he continues to get older, a 36 year old 6.5M Karlsson doesn't seem like a great fit, especially getting rid of a 2023 1st and 2023 2nd to acquire him.

Edvinsson-Seider
Chiarot-EK65
Johansson-Hronek
Wallinder (put him here as he does play the right side)

My god $9 mil in retention a year with basically nothing coming back in return. Timo trade isn’t good, top prospect don’t a depth forward
