not great but better than mittlestadt!

Caps would be looking for a first to move him now, which I don't blame anyone for not wanting to pay

Imo been one of best forwards just doesn’t produce. Analytics can prove that if I remember

he is indeed one of the best play driving forwards but has not been able to translate that into a final product, even though he has been getting not a ton of minutes and little powerplay time.

mittlestadt doesnt drive play and has 3 EV points all year ...

Since going to Washington 43 points in 78 games, Yeah you're not getting no 1st round pick for Mantha.

Driving a play is our main issue and very caps fan on this site can agree on that. Well said.

I agree, but the caps also aren't moving him for much less than that at this point in time.

Like within 5 seconds? 20 seconds? An hour of thought? a week with no counter offer? What about after considering Swayman will want 4 mil like Oeetinger next year. Boston will be paying Pasta over 11mil soon. Do they want 9 mil held up in goaltending?

$9M is fine if you have a strong tandem and the cap will go up. Bruins had Rask ($7M) + Halak ($2.75M) and it worked well. It's not guaranteed yet Swayman will get $4M and he's the future for the Bruins so they won't trade him.

IF the Bruins trade Swayman for whatever reason (they shouldn't) It wont be for a 2nd rounder, bottom 6er, backup goalie and ok prospect

More like a quarter of a second. The offer is atrocious.
9M in goaltending is fine. Lots of teams have much more tied up in goaltending
Why should he get $4M? Oettinger had a bit of a better resume.

Now as others pointed out, it’s highly unlikely that the bruins will trade him. But lets play that game. Let’s say he wants more than the bruins are willing to pay for the goaltending position, and cap considerations and all that jazz. Do you think that puts them in the position where they have to take whatever specifically the Buffalo Sabres wants to offer up? There are 30 other teams in the NHL, and they would all be able to make offers for a 24 year old goalie that’s shown he can be a good #1. Think maybe one of them would offer more than a 2nd round pick (the rest of this offer is just fluff, zero of the players are of any interest)?

Ben Chiarot isn't as injury prone as Mantha, And besides Bill Zito majorly overpaid for Chiarot. He's not all he's cracked up to be.

Mantha is finished as a player. I wouldn't take that player up. Definitely wouldn't give a first for him personally.
