I cant see SJ retaining 50 %, why bother at that point. too many years left, and the way hes playing hes worth $7-9m right now. If there was 1or 2 years left maybe. Puljujarvi isnt enough return either, im sure they would want a high pick as well.

Zero chance San Jose does this.

If they retain 50% it will cost multiple firsts, two prospects and a roster player.

return isnt big enough and puljarvi himself isnt worth a first let alone a Norris caliber d man. I think if San Jose wants a longer rebuild we could retain that much but it certainly increases the price by a lot

Why would San Jose give him away for free and screw their cap structure for the next 5 years?

"The way it was framed to me today when I asked around about this deal was, okay, let’s say from an Oilers perspective this was a ‘who says no’ proposition that was put to me. It was Puljujarvi in exchange for Karlsson and the Sharks retaining 50%. And I said okay, who says no? The answer was the Oilers say no." Im not saying that it makes sense or it doesnt... Im saying that the Oilers say no in this particular case.

Yeah, I saw that just now. Seems its true, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Its like the Josh Anderson thing where GMs have this weird fascination for one of the worst cap dumps in the NHL. I just don't get it sometimes.

Seravalli hits the crack pipe first thing in the morning every morning. The fact that people read him seriously is ridiculous. He is the new hockeybuzz.

According to him you can get a potential 40 goal scorer rfa for a dime and a Norris leading defenseman for a penny. Well actually you have to pay the other team for them to take the Norris leading defenseman
