It's easy finding fit for an expiring contract. But at this time of year it's more difficult to see how Boesner's contract fits in with Calgary next year. Flames have big 7.5m raises for just two players.

What do they realistically want for boeser or does it turn into more of a bjorkstrand situation where they take a couple ok assets just to get him out and clear cap?

No, because Lucic is on an expiring deal.

I think they would prefer that (obviously they would want more than a 3rd+4th) but the teams that are interested in Boeser probably need to move out at least some cap to fit him in.

I think it can be a mix, I think that this would be a pretty good situation for the canucks, get a good young player who could be an every day roster player next year and fill a need, move the money, and still take back some to increase the value of the overall trade

If Cgy goes for Boeser they should just significantly overpay for Horvat and toss in Boeser as bacon bits.

In that case we just open the closet and let you have your pick. I would like to keep Zary and Coronato, we're jammed up LW so Pelletier would be a nice piece to let go.

thats not how this works, although they both have the same initials, Brock Boeser ≠ Bacon Bits

I'm sure they are open to anything really, but the main goal seems to be freeing up cap space rather than getting good value. Perhaps they sounded the alarm that he's going to be cheap to increase the number of suitors though. I'm sure though that they aren't going to give him away for free (a 3rd+4th).

I think that there will be a mix, their ideal is probably, 2nd, 3C prospect and maybe a little bit of cap. I would be fine taking back lucic as it is only for this season but I think they would rather a player like Rooney or zadorov but I dont think thats happening

Sounds like a problem for next off-season.

I see it as a competition between Boeser, Toffoli & Mangiapane as to who stays and who gets Traded come the off-season OR maybe they move an LD like Hanifin out if he won't re-sign a decent extension instead

Cap was originally projected to increase by another million, but I've seen projections lately that it could increase by at least another $4 million= $86.5mil+

Ah, yeah taking on cap for 1-season isn't an issue at all. I didn't even know which thread I was on (thought it was the Boeser for Mantha one). What you got here is probably something Vancouver would happily accept if they can't get something better elsewhere. I'm sure they will prefer to send him to the east, then central, before the Pacific. He's not scoring many goals as he should but he's not a bad player at all, and I'm sure they think he will regain his form elsewhere.

I think they would be better served to move some cap this year just in-case it's a flat cap but I guess they could always just give guy for free if that does happen.

I mean he already is regaining his form, he just needs to play with a playmaker is all he needs, so if he is stapled to the wing of Petey he's all good to go. He doesnt work quite as well with a guy like horvat because horvat is a one man band, drives play, passes the puck then drives hard to the net and scores himself.

With Huby, he probably elevates his game then, which is probably an issue if Vancouver is trying to compete next year.

All I know is that I better see some trades out of Vancouver this year, unlike this past off-season (I was hoping for a blockbuster Miller deal at the very least).

I'm also glad that Petey has elevated his game, hopefully, Boeser can too sooner rather than later.

You see I dont think thate we're going to be competing next year, I think that it will be at least 3 years. I think Demko will be on another team or contract by the time we look to contend

I wanted miller gone too, I have always been big on home grown guys, like petey, demko, and horvat

Same, I knew he had it in him but it scared me last year

I do expect more of the same too but the goal would be to compete is what I meant.
