The Leafs could not afford to make that deal because it would create a huge hole up the middle. Plus, Hamonic had a pretty down year last season where Kadri had 30-goals. If the Islanders wanted Kadri, it would cost them at least Pulock, Barzal and a 1st in this year's draft, but I think the Leafs very much want Calvin de Haan, and if that's all you have Detroit giving up for him (picks), Toronto would be highly interested in figuring out a deal of Kadri for de Haan and Barzal.

No chance would the Isles pay that for Kadri, The price you just named is for Nylander. Hamonic is still on an incredibly favorable contract and has production to back it up. I'd say it's a very fair 1-for-1. Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Bozak and Boyle (if he returns) are all natural centers. Hyman also played center. Not a gaping hole as you'd think

If NYI could take back a contract (a throw in) similar to that crazy Grabner deal, I think the Leafs would highly consider something like that for sure.

See you guys don't exactly have any contract that the Isles can take back where it makes sense for us to. The Islanders aren't in any better of a position cap wise than you are. Here's really the only thing I was able to find. You guys add Komorov, Isles add Chimera. TOR saves about $750k of cap and each team receives a roster player.

De Haan, Nelson, Chimera for Kadri and Komorov

If kadri was playing like he used to I would 100% agree but kadri is now becoming a beast so it's hard to say

After the year Kadri had his price would be high. He's on a way better contract. Hamonic had a terrible year and should have been traded already when he requested one. Now he is one yr older with one yr less on his contract. His weak year drove the price down on him. I wouldn't even trade for him to be honest.

If the Isles are willing to give up that much for a defenseman...I've got a few Wild d-men I'll trade you for that return!

Will take Brodin and another d-man (Scandella or Spurgeon) for that same package, but MIN would have to eat Clutterbuck's salary for cap purposes. Other option is Brodin and Dumba for the same Tanev package with no extra players
